ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS AND SUSTAINABE DEVELOPMENT

1. What goals Filipinos have accomplished already? Enumerate with picture on
the realities of the Philippine context and discuss each.

 GENDER EQUALITY
There is already a law about gender equality which is the SOGIE BILL
and in Manila there is also a Law that will protect the LGBTQ+
Community.

 CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION

Over 19 percent of global water withdrawal is compensated for by
manufacturing, and 70 percent more by agricultural supply chains.
What is calculated is managed, and we have seen a growing number of
businesses monitoring, handling, and introducing water solutions at
CDP. The best example to this is the Pasig River and Boracay.

 INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRACTURE

Important sources of economic growth and development are
investment in technology and creativity. With more than half of the
world's population now living in cities, urban transit and renewable
energies, as well as the rise of emerging businesses and information
and communication technology, are becoming more and more
significant.

2. What goals Filipinos have a hard time accomplishing? Enumerate with

picture on the realities of the Philippine context and discuss each.

 QUALITY EDUCATION
The quality of education in the Philippines has been greatly affected by
high dropout rates, high numbers of repeaters, low passing grades,
lack of specific language skills, failure to respond adequately and
address the needs of individuals with special needs, overcrowded
classrooms, and poor teacher performance. Not everyone has the
privilege to go to school.
 REDUCED INEQULITIES
Better education, better health care, social security networks and
higher and broader economic growth, particularly in agriculture, are
key to reducing inequality. Income inequality is an international issue
requiring global solutions. This includes improving the regulation and
monitoring of financial markets and institutions, promoting
development assistance and foreign direct investment in regions that
are most in need. Facilitating people's safe migration and mobility is
also crucial to bridging the widening divide.

 DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Sustained economic growth, higher production levels and technical
advancement are encouraged through the SDGs. Encouraging
creativity and job growth, as well as concrete steps to eliminate child
labor, slavery and trafficking in human beings, are crucial to this. With
these goals in mind, the aim is for both women and men to gain
complete and sustainable jobs and decent work by 2030.
 PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS
Today's world is more interconnected than ever. An important way to
share ideas and foster innovation is by improving access to technology
and knowledge. In order to achieve sustainable growth and
development, coordinating policies to help developing countries
manage their debt, as well as promoting investments for the least
developed, is vital.

 AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

Investing in clean energy sources such as solar, wind and thermal
energy means ensuring universal access to affordable electricity by
2030. Adopting cost-effective standards for a broader range of
technologies could also reduce by 14% the global consumption of
electricity by buildings and industry. This implies avoiding
approximately 1,300 mid-size power plants. In all developing
countries, the expansion of infrastructure and the upgrading of
technology to provide clean energy is a key objective that can both
stimulate growth and help the environment. In all developing
countries, the expansion of infrastructure and the upgrading of
technology to provide clean energy is a key objective that can both
stimulate growth and help the environment.
 SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
In urban spaces, extreme poverty is always elevated, and national and
local governments are trying to meet the growing population in these
regions. Ensuring access to secure and affordable accommodation and
transforming slum settlements means making cities healthy and
prosperous. This also includes sustainable transport funding, the
development of green public spaces and the enhancement of urban
planning and management in a manner that is both participatory and
inclusive.

3. What goals Filipinos will never accomplish? Enumerate with picture on the
realities of the Philippine context and discuss each.

 NO POVERTY
Eradicating poverty in all its manifestations remains one of humanity's
biggest problems. The causes of poverty are weakness in employment
generation and the quality of jobs generated and high levels of
population growth.
 ZERO HUNGER
Hunger is caused by several causes in the Philippines. Inflation is one
culprit. Strong supermarket food costs keep food supplies expensive
and hinder poor households' ability to satisfy their everyday food and
dietary needs.

 GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Many Filipinos continue to die or suffer from well-proven, cost-effective
illnesses, such as tuberculosis, HIV and dengue, or diseases that
threaten mothers and infants.

 RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

The achievement of economic development and sustainable
development demands that by reforming the way we generate and use
goods and services, we desperately reduce our environmental
footprint. Agriculture is the world's largest water user, and irrigation
now accounts for close to 70% of all freshwater for human use.

 CLIMATE ACTION
The Philippines is particularly vulnerable to climate change effects,
including increasing sea levels, increased occurrence of extreme
weather conditions, rising temperatures and extreme precipitation.

 LIFE BELOW WATER

The oceans of the world control environmental processes that make
the Planet habitable for humanity-their temperature, chemistry, tides
and life. It is important for mankind as a whole to handle this critical
resource and to counter-balance the impact of climate change.
 LIFE ON LAND
For our sustenance and livelihoods, human life relies on the planet as
well as the ocean. Plant life provides 80 percent of our human diet,
and as an essential economic resource and means of production, we
rely on agriculture. In addition to providing essential habitats for
millions of animals and critical supplies of clean air and water, forests
account for 30 percent of the Earth's surface, and are crucial for
mitigating climate change.

 PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS

We should not hope for sustainable progress without peace, security,
human rights and good government based on the rule of law. We are
living in an increasingly fractured world. Some countries, while others
collapse through almost endless loops of strife and aggression,
experience prolonged degrees of stability, security and development.
This is not unavoidable by all means and must be tackled.
