TASK 1: ACADEMIC WRITING

Education is crucial to all human being, it does not matter where you came from, your races,
background, skin colour and the disabilities that you have. Living in a society that is
competitive is hard, but living in a supportive society is always the best. In the era of Fourth
Industrial Revolution (4IR), our education system has progress productively where everyone
can learn and get education as it is the right of every human. In this discussion, we will dive
into the world of Inclusive Education.

First and foremost, the basic concepts of inclusive education are about all students
are welcomed in a regular (mainstream) classes and given support to learn as well as
participate in all aspects in school. Inclusive education also about how the classroom,
programs and the learning are designed for all students to participate together. The aim of
inclusive education is to give a common learning environment where students don’t feel
different when being together with the other students when they are learning, being at the
gym, performing, doing music and more. There are few aspects that an inclusive classroom
must have which is must enable student to fully participate in the learning environment. Next,
teacher and other students must provide a positive learning atmosphere and a sense of
belonging as well as giving support for the inclusive students.

In Malaysia, based on Ministry of Education official website the inclusive education

programme (PPI) are aligned to the Act of Education (Special Education) that stated that
‘Inclusive Education’ is a program for special need students that can learn in the same class
whether it is a government or government aided school. There are 2 approaches in Malaysia
Inclusive Education which is ‘Inklusif Penuh’ (full) and ‘Inklusif Separa (half). ‘Inklusif Penuh’
learn all the academic subjects based on the national curriculum that is modified with or
without assistance in supervision. Then, ‘Inklusif Separa’ approaches is done by learning
mainstream academic subjects or co-academic subjects based on their abilities. Their co-
curriculum involvements are also based on their talents and abilities limit. To summarise, the
objectives of PPI are to make sure that students with disabilities are given equal treatment
and rights to learn. Other than that, it also gives the students with disabilities to build their
confident to reach their maximum potential. Lastly, the goal is to raise awareness to the
school society and the community that every human has the right to learn and treated well
because we are created to complete each other.
As we know, school administrations and parents are also a movement that must work
together to ensure the productivity and effectiveness of the Inclusive Education Programme
that our Ministry of Education had introduced. School administrators can use the Parents
and Teachers Association (PTA) to give exposure on the support that they need to give to
their special need children. Parental cooperation can be seen through their involvement with
their child’s learning activities. It can be categorized into two types of engagement namely
school-based engagement and home-based engagement (Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler
2007). School administrations can have a platform to communicate with each other in
helping children with special need to progress in learning based on the Fourth Industrial
Revolution (4IR) approaches where technology is used to ease people in doing things. As
example, School administrators can invite parents to a Telegram (Application) group where it
can be a platform to encourage parents to help their children with the task or homework
given to help the children development.

In conclusion, we can see that Inclusive education is an initiative for us to celebrate

humanity at its best. Because education is vital to every person does not matter what
differences we have. Special need and disabilities is not a boundary for us to ignore that
there are always something we can do to help each other because human are meant to take
care of each other.
