This grammar test is objective. Students will be asked to use the appropriate

Preposition of Place, so they must answer with the suitable preposition in order to

obtain a correct answer.

Through the Unit II students were applying and learning the uses of Prepositions of

Place in different activities. For that reason this exam is valid because it will test a

grammar topic that students have learnt during the whole unit.

The topic tested in this grammar exam is very important for students. The

practicability of it is that students will be tested in their ability of use and identify

basic Prepositions of Place. So, that in their daily life they will be able to express

the location of places, objects, persons, etc.

The purpose of the exam is to asses students¶ competence in applying the

appropriate Preposition of Place to locate places and objects. And to test if they are

able to identify the basic Prepositions of Place.

This group is in second grade of the primary school called: ³Humberto Ramírez

Díaz´. In this group the number of students is 29; 16 girls and 13 boys. Their ages

go from 6 up to 8 years old. All of the students are attending English classes

because it is mandatory in basic education levels to attend it. Most of the students

(more than the 80 percent) are willing to learn English. They enjoy participating in

games, role-plays, etc. during the class. They have no problem with working in

groups, couples or individually, they are very collaborative.

The Cognitive Approach is the one that is used for this test. This because students

are tested about what they can do with the language. In this case what they can do

with the prepositions of place in English, if they can use them appropriately or not.

The purpose of English Language teaching for Cycle 1 in basic education (3rd

grade preschool, 1st and 2nd grades of elementary school) is to relate students

´awareness about the existence of a language different from their own, and to get

them acquainted with the foreign language by participating in routine social

practices of the language via specific activities with the language which promote

interaction among students and spoken and written texts in different social

environments. Therefore, in this cycle, students will be able to:

î Recognize the existence of other cultures and languages.

î Feel motivated and have a positive attitude towards the English language.

î Develop basic communication skills, especially the receptive ones.

î Reflect on how writing system works.

î Become acquainted with different types of texts.

î Start getting in touch with children´s literature.

î Develop learning strategies which can be transferred to other areas of

knowledge.

î Use linguistic and non-linguistic resources to give information about

themselves and their surroundings.

The whole test consists in two sections.

This test has two sections. In the first section students can spent 10 minutes at

most. In the second section students can spend 15 minutes at most.

This test consists of two sections, each section has four items. So, section one

values 50 percent of the grade and section two values the other 50 percent.

In the first section students have to filling the blanks (Gap Filling) with the suitable

Preposition of Place. In the second section students are asked to write a sentence

with the structure shown in the example, using the appropriate Preposition of Place

according to the image shown in each item.

things, people, animals, etc. are located. So they will be able to give and receive

information about the location of places, animals, people, etc.

   

The rubric used for the score of this test is going to be given by the number of

accurate answers. This because this test is objective, so according to the sum of

the points for the correct answers obtained will be the grade.

A 8 correct answers equal to 10.

A 7 correct answers equal to 8.75

A 6 correct answers equal to 7.5

A 5 correct answers equal to 6.25

A 4 correct answers equal to 5

A 3 correct answers equal to 3.75

A 2 correct answers equal to 2.5
