Fluoricum Acidum.
For use, 1 part of the pure acid is dissolved in 99 parts of water and
preserved in gutta-percha vials. This should be well diluted before taking.
General Action :- º It is an irritant to mucous membranes and a profound
tissue remedy. º Indicated in deep destructive processes (periosteal, osseous
and connective tissue generally affected.). º It also seems to affect the veins
and restore their tone.
Allies :- º º Boron (Borax and Boracic acid), Silicon (Silicic acid, Silica).
Generalities :- º Writhing about in indescribable agony. º Motion of hands,
fingers, toes feet jaws, lips, eyebrows lids, muscles of face, etc. ; fond of
movement of the whole body when sitting. º Pain, agg. hand, arm to elbow
and in foot, with lameness ; transient P. in different parts in evening, in
neck, knee, right forearm, left leg, right foot, right shoulder and left arm,
sometimes below, sometimes above elbow ; erratic in left half of body in
arm, chest, nates, etc., with itching ; jerking, in different parts, behind left
ear, on left middle finger and in small of back ; jerking burning, almost
boring, in a small spot ; burning, at 9 P.M. in different places, agg.
externally, on thighs, left upper arm, fingers, etc.
º Shaking sensation in forenoon when sitting, with pressure and compression
in occiput, agg. towards right side, with internal numbness in left forearm
and pricking in it on stretching it. º Sensation almost like rush of blood,
though rather as if caused by the nerves, somewhat like numbness and
confusion or burning, in right side of forehead, then in right side of jaws, in
posterior half of occiput, in bladder, and so on in various places. º Lameness.
º Lassitude ; in forenoon ; at night when walking ; sudden, in evening. º
Many symptoms worse when standing, though better when standing than
when sitting ; S. agg. right side ; during rest ; in the room when reading or
writing ; as soon as she rises. º Amelioration on motion, on walking ; pains
amel. after breakfast, except pain in head on motion of it.
Clinical :- º It has been used in typhoid fever, especially for the
bed-sores, and tabes dorsalis and in other diseases where there has been
tendency to decubitus. º In a general way it is a remedy for an unhealthy
condition of the tissues in broken-down constitutions, as in drunkards,
varicose veins, bed-sores, syphilitic destruction of tissues, exostoses and
bone-pains ; diseases of the bones generally ; also in diseases of the skin,

ulcerations, varicosities, nævi, lupus-like tubercles. º The symptom of


necessity for energetic and rapid motion, "It seems as if she could walk
forever." has been relied upon as a marked indication for the drug in
numerous diseases, for example, tumors, felons, etc.

Mind :- º º Satisfaction. º Enjoyment of everything. º Gayety next morning. º


Sensation as if dangers menaced him, agg. during pressure in occiput,
during the staggering, pain in bladder, etc., without fear. º Anxiety so that
sweat frequently breaks out. º Ill humor. º Discontent in evening, but joy in
the morning after a restless night. º Ungovernable anger when considering
what might happen. º Hatred, which he vents in words, but a suddenly
altered view as soon as he sees the people. º Dissatisfaction, with discomfort
in abdomen. º Aversion to his business. º Disposition when alone to
repulsive fantastic imagination, especially in regard to people with whom he
is connected for example, that he must get rid of all servants, children must
go out of the house, a betrothal must be broken off, a marriage must be
dissolved, etc. º Indifference. º Mistakes right and left in making notes. º
Writes. º December for August daily though memory is good. º Forgets the
most common things. º It his ideas are interrupted by other thoughts he
cannot recall the former, or only slowly and stupidly. º Peculiar rush of
memory every morning. º Attention difficult to fix. º Comprehension of
philosophical works difficult, but facts appear clearer.
Head :- º Aching, with nausea and vertigo. º Pressure outward ; P. in brain,
extending upward. º Contractive pain, then beneath right scapula. º
Confusion. º Dullness in, morning till breakfast ; in morning, with drawings
in right side of head ; D. sensation as if brain were pressed upward. º
Heaviness till going to bed, he wakes with it in the morning, amel. 9 A.M. ;
H., with pain deep in middle of forehead. º It seems to proceed from throat
to head, feeling as if he would be struck by apoplexy, a kind of
determination of blood to head and unconsciousness, he could not remember
where he was. º Determination of blood with heat in forehead, increasing to
pain in os fronts. º Stunning sensation, agg. in front. º A kind of shaking in
forenoon, after 10, agg. occiput, and more towards right, at first when
sitting, then agg. every quick, short movement, on rising, turning, during
walking. º Vertigo in morning on rising, lasting when walking or sitting,
then eructations and nausea.
Forehead :- º Shooting in left. º Pain ; in upper part of F. and vertex,
towards right ; in morning on waking ; in right side in forenoon ; over right
brow in forenoon ; at noon in frontal and parietal bones, on lying down she
feels it allover ; in left side in evening ; in right protuberance in evening ; in
right side of sinciput and in right eye in evening after lying down ; in
sinciput on stooping, with pressing on right eye. º Compressing pain in right
protuberance. º Heavy pain ; in upper part of sinciput in evening, agg.
stooping, sometimes passing to upper part of temples, agg. to left. º
Heaviness above eyes, agg. motion, with nausea. º Painful, quick
determination of blood to sinciput in evening on beginning to walk after
standing not after sitting.
º Pain in temples ; left ; in left, proceeding from within ; quick, throbbing P.

in right at 8.30 P.M. on bending head, as in stooping. º Pressure outward in


temples ; in left. º Pain like a contraction on vertex towards the right in
forenoon. º Then under right scapula.
Parietals :- º Sharp, darting pain like a prolonged electric shock, or
compression of ulnar nerve, from near posterior superior angle of right bone
to right mastoid process. º Shooting, undulating pain from left side about
middle of head and near sutura interparietalis to left temple near exterior
part of orbital cavity, causing an idea of impending danger, this pain shoots
about for two seconds, but the undulation lasts longer. º Pain in course of
left coronal suture in morning ; P. in parietal bone, extending to right
mastoid process ; P., a partial fulness, as if something were lying on left
bone. º Dullness and painful tension towards right side of head. º Drawing in
right side of head.
º Cramp deep in left side of occiput. º Pinching in lowest left side of occiput
in morning after waking. º Pressure in occiput beneath protuberances ; P. in
right side ; sudden intermittent pain in left side. º Dullness of occiput ; right.
º Hair tangled, unless frequently combed. º Itching. º Desire to scratch
without itching, with great falling of hair.
Clinical :- º Alopecia areata. º Falling of the hair. º Caries of the skull,
agg. temporal bones.

Eyes :- º Quivering externally in right, then burning shooting at bottom of


orbit. º Pain in right. º Pressure upon right when stooping. º Burning. º
Itching in left as from a grain of sand. º Affected so that he must wink and
rub it. º Lachrymation. º Pupils contracted. º Quivering above left external
canthus. º Lids feel as if forced open, and as if in a wind, then sensation like
sand in balls, which felt inflamed. º Pricking in internal canthus, with
burning. º Itching of upper lids and inner canthi ; upper lids in evening ; I. in
left internal canthus ; in right internal C. in evening. º Pain behind right eye ;
deep left, extending far into upper jaw, at 1 o'clock, the same behind right
between 5 and 6 P.M. ; in bone behind left, towards temple, in left nostril and
in forehead, as if something pointed were forced deep into it at 1 P.M. º
Throbbing in bone above and behind right brow. º Drawing around right eye
in evening.
º Pleasant sensation as if lids were wider open or eyes were more prominent,
vision clearer, and he feels a kind of luxurious enjoyment when looking at
things he sees every day. º Inclination in morning to go without glasses,
though his short-sightedness was no better, it was very irksome to bring
objects near the eyes. º Vision of a large, bright ring on closing, eyes firmly
in evening. º V. of a light crossing itself like lightning in evening in bed. º V.
of red sparklings crossing each other in all directions on closing eyes after
going to bed, then red, flaming, trembling, amel. opening eyes.
Clinical :- º Lachrymal fistula. º Chronic inflammation of the lachrymal
sac, agg. cold air.

Ears :- º Sticking in right. º Jerking behind left. º Pain in right ; behind right,
extending upward ; about right in forenoon as, if ringing in ear would

begin ; peculiar P. in left, amel. stirring in with finger, with itching. º Itching
in right, then left. º Sensitiveness of hearing increased in morning.
Clinical :- º Otorrhœa, with hardness of hearing.
Nose :- º Pain on left side, nose had not been sore or painful for several
months ; sudden P. in left side after some emissions. º Sore feeling, agg.
towards left side. º Crawling. º Feeling as from a bad cold. º Sneezing in
afternoon ; violent S. seven times in morning, with scanty discharge of thin
mucus from nose, salivation and sensation in nose as from very cold
weather. º Suddenly full of mucus in morning on rinsing mouth with cold
water, as quickly passing over. º Coryza ; in frequent attacks, suddenly
appearing and disappearing, coryza, amel. excitement ; fluent, and on right
side, with crawling before sneezing ; fluent at night in sleep or next
morning, after drinking red wine in evening, constant dropping and stoppage
of nose ; sudden fluent, all day after drinking ale in evenings, suddenly
disappearing ; sudden tickling fluent, all day after ale in evening.
Clinical :- º Chronic nasal catarrh and ozæna.
Face :- º Appears to have become suddenly old, he sees in the glass
superficial whitish, puffy folds beneath the eyes, extending towards nose,
etc., without discontent thereat. º Constant motion of muscles. º Spasmodic
sensation in zygomata at 5 P.M., drawing towards larynx. º Jaw, gnawing
near angles ; pain in right upper, with heat, reflected in lower ; drawing pain
in right lower, towards the middle ; peculiar sensation near bone of right
lower in evening, with drawing in entire right limb ; sensation in right joint
as if a spasm would occur ; cramplike confusion in joints, agg. left ; warmth
in right upper, with confusion ; burning pain on outside of right lower near
first or second molar ; numbness in right joint, with warmth and sensation as
if it would begin to pain. º Lips warm ; burning like a sore near inner edge of
lower, towards the right.
Mouth :- º
Teeth :- º Digging in a right lower incisor. º Pain in left ; left lower ; P. in a
right tooth disappears for a moment and jumps to outer part of left thigh
above knee ; P. on right side, extending to outer part of left thigh above
knee ; in right eye-tooth in evening ; in a right upper carious incisor in
evening from the cold air of the room ; so that he could not bite upon the
teeth. º Drawing in left lower. º Right eye-tooth, which was once rough but
afterwards smooth, is now rough and begins to ache, agg. at upper part of
root, and along roots of upper teeth there is pain on pressure, agg. evening,
temporarily amel. cold water. º Bluntness ; with sticking, contraction and
tension, then the mucous membrane of mouth became whitish and peeled
off. º Lower incisors feel sharp, as if broken and pain on touch of tongue. º
Warm feeling, agg. left upper, especially incisor and canine, then warmth in
pharynx. º Acrid offensive taste coming from the roots ; acrid putrid T. from
root of right upper incisor, on which an artificial tooth is fixed, in morning ;
like ink in evening, from a left lower. º Pain where the roots of left teeth had
been taken out. º (Painful excoriation near first right lower molar.).

º Prickling of tongue, with salivation, afterwards with smarting of palate as


if something acrid had been gargled, tenderness in larynx and soreness in
throat on coughing to clear it. º Painful ulcer in right angle of jaw. º
Contractions, with pricklings and sour taste. º Pain as from hot water, teeth
so painful that he cannot chew. º Sensation during a walk as if the passage to
nose were wide open. º Dryness in evening of left half of palate and roof. º
Greasy feeling. º Salivation amel. after headache began ; and a sensation as
if head were too heavy and would drop from one side to the other, a pressure
outward ; tenacious S. on waking at night, before diarrhœa ; viscid, tasteless
S. on waking at 2 A.M., with burning pinching in stomach and sensation of
flatulent distention, agg. emission of wind, after a copious pappy stool the
pains concentrate in umbilical region, the pain amel. after the stool but
returns, a second stool with pain in umbilical region and a pasty one at 7
A.M. º Taste intolerable ; T. salt in morning on waking, till breakfast ;
sweetish in throat at night ; T. of what he has eaten, agg. afternoon.
Clinical :- º Dental fistula, with persistent bloody, salty discharge,
which keeps the mouth foul. º Several cases of dental fistula and caries of
the jaw-bone have been cured by this drug.

Throat :- º Hawking of bloody mucus from low down. º Constriction at first


in afternoon, with difficult swallowing ; C. in left side ; C. with pressure in
stomach and fulness in epigastric region, disgusting eructations and nausea ;
with rumbling in abdomen, pressure and burning in stomach, eructations,
retching then constipation for two days. º Soreness of pharynx, extending
below larynx, swallowing bread is painful ; S., with difficult swallowing,
amel. after breakfast next morning, the same morning hawking from low
down of much phlegm mixed with blood. º Sensation posteriorly at entrance
to œsophagus, agg. on left side as if raw, or as if an ulcer would from, in
morning and forenoon, and when hawking he though blood would come
from it. º Warmth ; in fauces in morning. º Swallowing difficult.
Clinical :- º Goitre. º Syphilitic ulceration of the throat, with fetid smell,
much tumefaction, throat very sensitive to cold.

Stomach :- º Appetite increased ; after diarrhœa ; voracious. º Good, but


soon satisfied. º Speedy satiety. º A. diminished, he wants something
"piquant." º Thirst increased ; at night. º Longing for coffee. º Aversion to
coffee. º Relishes wine no more. º Eructations ; in evening, with nausea ;
flat, nauseous, sour ; frequent sour, in afternoon, with pyrosis and emission
of flatus ; sour, bitter after dinner. º Nausea ; with general heat ; with
vertigo and headache ; with heaviness above eyes ; without inclination to
vomit, with dullness of head. º Retching. º Vomiting ; difficult, several
times, of clear, viscid fluid, with coagulated white pieces.
º Rumbling ; after eating, with urging as in diarrhœa. º Burning pinching
before diarrhœa. º Burning ; with pressure ; before eating, amel. eating, then
heaviness, and again heat, agg. walking. º Pyrosis. º Weight between meals,
simulating indigestion. º Sensitiveness to pressure. º Discomfort in forenoon.
º Sensation as if nausea or a kind of a kind of vertigo would set in, but it
does not.

Abdomen :- º Rumbling ; in forenoon, with erratic pain. º Frequent


emission of flatus and eructations, leaving him more comfortable and
feeling as if it were the last, but everything is renewed in the same order,
and so on for two or three days, only at longer intervals ; much inodorous
and noisy flatus ; offensive in morning ; scanty, offensive, before stool ;
scanty offensive like a mixture of carburetted, sulphuretted and
phosphoretted hydrogen, agg. forenoon, several hours before eating, and in
afternoon, two hours after eating. º Feeling of accumulated flatus. º Pain
after eating fish with vinegar ; (P. after watermelon) ; before diarrhœa, agg.
after emission of flatus ; during diarrhœa, agg. in umbilical region. º Warmth
at night, with dragging towards bladder. º Inclination to draw up muscles,
with great appetite. º (Unpleasant sensation after eating hearing, and
discontent.).
º Pain in region of spleen. º Pinching in region of spleen at 11 A.M. ; in
umbilical region at 2 A.M., and copious watery stool. º Faintness in umbilical
region in morning before eating, amel. bandaging, pressure of watch and
eating, with desire to breathe deeply, in the evening it is more like a burning,
when occupied he does not observe it. º Shooting towards right side in
evening, as from wind. º Pain in left side ; in evening. º Sensation in left side
as if pain would arise and wind be discharged, but neither occurred. º
Jerkings in left side of lower. º Sudden acute pain above left hip, hindering
respiration. º Deep-seated pain in inguinal regions. º Burning in right
inguinal region in afternoon.
Clinical :- º Numerous symptoms in the liver have led to its use in
hepatic engorgement, and even degeneration of the liver in consequence
of alcoholismus, and also in abdominal dropsies associated with hepatic
disease. º With the above hepatic and abdominal symptoms there is
sometimes found offensive bilious diarrhœa, especially in hard drinkers,
with great aversion to coffee, desire for highly-seasoned food, soreness
over liver, etc.

Rectum and Anus :- º Urging and soft stool, next day stool protracted and
small ; ineffectual desire ; indefinite desire, scanty odorless wind and pappy
stool, in a tertian type, one day with copious micturition, after the stool
better appetite than usual. º Constriction of anus on attempting to emit flatus.
º Feeling as if wind were retained in anus. º Determination of blood to A.
after drinking wine. º Itching in and around A.
Stool :- º Fluid, profuse at 2 A.M., with pinching. º Two watery immediately
after rising in morning. º Diarrhœa at 4 A.M. º Loose. º Large, pappy,
yellowish-brown, offensive. º Pappy and frequent. º Free, twice a day. º
Hard, twice a day. º Constipation. º Scanty and delayed ; S., intermittent and
lumpy. º (In lumps and difficult.). º (Every other day and every time later.).
Urinary Organs :- º Pain in region of bladder ; above neck of B. after
micturition ; in lower part of B. before and after micturition and on
pressure ; in region of B., like an electric shock, extending into right thigh ;
burning quick, nervous pain from region of B. extending to right thigh,
when in bed. º Frequent desire to urinate. º Micturition twice at night ;

frequent M. of light urine, leaving him more comfortable, and during and
after micturition elasticity (in muscles ?) of urinary organs, then agreeable,
sensation, he drinks less than usual. º Burning in urethra during and after
micturition in morning. º Urine copious in evening, and of strong odor ; C.,
with the diarrhœa ; C., and of clear color ; C., then more thirst. º Urine
diminished ; evening and morning, with odor like Benzoic acid. º Urine
offensive ; and acrid. º The habitual whitish sediment is mixed with a
copious purple one.
Sexual Organs :- º Erections, with desire and voluptuousness ; E. in
morning without desire. º Occasional sticking, through left testicle to
abdominal ring and spermatic cord. º Drawing from left testicle to spermatic
cord. º Sensation of pushing towards spermatic cords, in evening. º Desire
increased ; with erections at night in sleep ; diminished ; lost. º
Menstruation eight days too soon, copious, thick and coagulated, lasting five
days instead of six to seven, the next time at the regular period according to
the former calculation.
Respiratory Organs :- º Pain in forepart of larynx, as if in cartilage,
inducing him to swallow. º Scraping in larynx, provoking hawking and
swallowing. º Soreness in larynx when coughing or hawking. º Itching in
larynx, causing swallowing and hawking. º Breathing oppressed deep
internally, not amel. deep breathing. º Difficult B. as from an impediment in
region of pit of throat and upper part of chest, with itching pimples on back
and pain in chest below point of scapula. º Deep B. as if the breast within
and below were full, in forenoon when sitting and writing. º Sighing
inspiration in afternoon and evening, more observed by others than by
himself, he has to bend backward in afternoon on the bed if he wants to take
a full breath. º Breathing continued after radial pulse had failed and even
action of heart had apparently ceased.
Chest :- º Stitches in side ; under ribs to left of ensiform cartilage in
evening ; from left to groins, from 9 to 10 A.M., agg. deep respiration, agg.
in groin and back ; pain as if a stitch would appear behind heart ; burning S.
in left. º Pain close to right nipple ; in last right rib, near spine ; in centre of
sternum in afternoon, after retiring at 10 P.M., a pain in middle of chest
lasting till he fell asleep ; in left side beneath skin, on moving and a similar
pain in left shoulder at 10 P.M., next morning or rising P. again in left chest.
º Oppression on reclining, with trembling in lower limbs ; O., with pain. º
Tightness as if something were fixed in upper part, more towards the front,
impeding inspiration, not amel. deep inspiration. º Soreness. º Burning from
left breast to groin. º Throbbing in C. and abdomen on feeling them.
Clinical :- º Ascites, with great dyspnœa. º Hydrothorax, with wheezing
respiration, and small, frequent, irregular pulse.

Heart and Pulse :- º Heart aching ; soreness ; uneasiness ; jerking. º Pulse


rapid and small.
Neck :- º Cramp in some muscles of left side and towards shoulder, in
forenoon when reposing and when rising, amel. after exercise, the pain

changing from one set of muscles to another, but is always in more than one
the omohyoideus is decidedly affected, but not the sterno-cleido-mastoideus.
º Pain in right side in forenoon ; P. in nape, beneath scapulæ and in left side
of chest ; extending from nape through centre of head towards forehead,
gradually concentrating towards the left, as if throbbing would arise there. º
Drawing pain along right side ; in afternoon. º Constriction of left side at 9
A.M. º Soreness of left half of nape. º Stiffness.

Back :- º Burning pricking in left scapula. º Pain sometimes beneath


scapulæ, sometimes in kidneys ; deep-seated P. below point of scapula, agg.
towards left, agg. when sitting, especially when riding ; in os sacrum ; in the
middle of tuberosities of ischia ; deep in left loin at night. º Jerkings in
sacrum.
Clinical :- º Neuralgia of the coccyx, excessive aching.
Extremities :- º Rapid growth of nails. º Sensation as if shoulders and hips
were being pulled out of joint. º Pain in bones of right forearm and knee ; in
left arm leg and hand ; intermittent, in bones of forearms and legs, about the
centre.
Clinical :- º Synovitis.
Upper Extremities :- º Pain extending from right shoulder-joint into finger,
as if air passed down ; sudden jerking pain in bone of left shoulder. º
Bruised feeling in right shoulder and upper arm after lying on left side, with
numbness. º Cramp of right arm in morning. º Frequent burning, pricking
and jerking pain in left arm as from a slow electric shock, at 2 P.M., agg.
inside of left little finger, with intermittent sticking outward in tip of finger. º
Pain in right arm ; left ; right at 9 A.M. ; left in evening ; deeply penetrating
P. in arm, agg. about junction of the cancellated with the solid part of right,
then left humeri, then soreness a similar pain in muscles over head of left
radius. º Lameness of right arm so that writing is difficult. º Numbness of
right arm in morning on waking after lying on left side, with heaviness ; N.
of left in morning, amel. about noon, with jerking and lameness. º Right arm
falls asleep at 10 P.M. when resting on it, with paralyzed sensation and
pricking.
º Pinching in left deltoid. º Pain above left elbow in morning ; P. in right,
then left humerus in afternoon, extending to elbow ; rheumatic, in left
humerus, from elbow to shoulder, with lameness. º Pain in right elbow ; left
in evening.
Forearm :- º Trembling of biceps. º Jerks along left radius to thumb, which
moves involuntarily. º Pinching in middle of left in evening. º Pressure in
right ; P. and paralyzed sensation. º Soreness in bones of left, towards the
middle. º Numbness of left every forenoon, but every day later and less
decided, with paralytic sensation. º Numb pain extending to hands. º

from the time of waking in morning till noon, several days, with prickling in
ball of thumb on stretching arm and hand.
Wrist :- º Pain about right wrist and finger-joints. º Drawing in right from 8
to 11 A.M.
Hand :- º Redness internally ; R., agg. in palms, as if finely mottled, with
fulness and warmth. º Pain and swelling next day fingers and especially
thumb inflamed, the hot bright red skin on the tips discolored, the last
phalanx almost immovable, the pain in hands extended to shoulders, and
fever, towards evening of second day the pains were throbbing and
finger-tip more swollen on the third day the finger-tips were white and
thumb was enveloped by a white blister, on which the nail rested, with
throbbing pains, on opening the blister a thick, brown, offensive, acid fluid
was discharged, under these blisters was seen on fingers the uninjured true
skin, on thumb there was underneath a second blister, upon opening which
commencing suppuration was found, the thumb continued to secrete thin
pus. º Pain in right metacarpus in evening after a cold from exposure to
snowy air, like that formerly in right leg. º Lameness of right. º Powerless
sensation. º Internal numbness in left, different from that produced by long
pressure, extending to forearm, not amel. exertion. º Left asleep in morning
after lying on right side, lasting all the forenoon.
Fingers :- º Jerking in left thumb in forenoon, extending to middle of
forearm. º Prickings ; in tips of index, agg. left and in right thumb ; outward,
in tip of left little ; intermittent burning P. in fleshy part of left thumb at 11
A.M., passing out at tip ; sensation of a splinter under thumb-nail and in
cellular tissue when touched, pulsating pain in hand, agg. in tip of thumb,
which was sore to touch, the whole hand swollen and hot (Bor.) ; pricklings
in tips, then violent pains, with chilliness of left arm, then of whole body ; in
ball of left thumb. º Inflammation, agg. thumb, with throbbing pain, then
suppuration. º Pain in first joint of right little finger as if being pulled out of
joint ; jerking P. in left middle ; intermittent, in left index as if in bone,
during the day, the whole finger is painful internally, agg. in evening ;
frequent throbbing in bones of tips, like a contusion, in evening. º Soreness
in left index. º Burning about bone of right middle, amounting to pain about
first joint, with itching prickling in skin ; jerking B. in tip of left little, at 10
A.M. º Paroxysmal painless sensation as if something were working its way
out beneath left nail, in forenoon. º Sensation of a hair on back of left little,
in forenoon, till 2 P.M. º Numbness of right in forenoon, with rigidity.
Clinical :- º Inflammation of the phalanges of the fingers, agg. index,
like a felon ; indeed most violent inflammations of the index finger, with
purulent discharges and terrible pain, have been relieved. º The nails
become crumbled or have longitudinal furrows. º In panaritiums the pain
in violent and throbbing, sometimes with sharp stitches when the nail is
pressed upon.

Lower Extremities :- º Trembling when reclining. º Sticking in right


hip-bone, spreading over nates. º Burning shooting downward in right hip,
as if a nerve, agg. inside of knee. º Pain in right hip ; in head of left femur ;

in fleshy part of left thigh, on outside ; in right ischiatic nerve in afternoon ;


burning itching P. in back part of thigh. º Bruised pain in muscles of thighs ;
B. pain in thigh, agg. posterior and inner part ; in left hip, agg. morning and
on getting in and out of bed, with pain on motion. º Lameness of left hip. º
Numbness of right thigh in evening when crossing legs.
Knee :- º Tearing upward in right. º Pain ; on inside of right in evening ; in
outside of left at 8 P.M., amel. friction ; penetrating, on outside of left ;
drawing, in hollow of right in forenoon, extending down calf to
tendo-achillis. º Dull feeling in right.
Leg :- º Trembling. º Deep-seated pain below right knee in evening. º
Drawing pain in left ; and foot. º (Lameness of right, with pain in femur,
tibia and fibula.). º Tired and heavy. º Left falls asleep easily ; in morning
when sitting after resting it over right leg, and the back of the foot feels like
a cushion, yet motion is unimpeded ; falling asleep of right in evening on
crossing it.
Ankle :- º Pain in right external in evening ; drawing P. in right during a
walk in evening, spreading gradually over whole leg, causing lameness in
knee and ankle, amel. rest. º Sprained pain in left when walking ; S.
lameness in afternoon, passing all around the joint, agg. stepping.
Foot :- º Pain in left ; in right heel ; in corns of right ; in left instep in
evening ; in right instep, with burning ; in left heel, like a rush of blood, in
evening. º Soreness of corns, like a boil.
Toes :- º Pricking in tips of right in forenoon ; burning P. under T. in
morning. º Pain in right little ; in first joints of right ; in all left toes except
the great one ; in right little, in forenoon ; burning P. in all, so that he could
hardly walk.
Skin :- º Redness, with heat and pain, then desquamation in scales ; R. in
spots above brows ; red blotches over brows, most abundant on left side but
lasting longer on right ; cicatrices, dating from thirty-two to two years, are
red around the edges, and covered here and there with itching vesicles,
those of more ancient date have larger vesicles, those of recent date are
filled with small pimples. º White and painful, forming a dense vesicle filled
with matter. º Roughness on forehead, in a line with its convexity upward. º
Desquamation in brown, with sticking.
º (Painful bleeding excoriation of left second toe.). º Pimples on nose ;
between nose and right eye ; in right side of face ; on abdomen, agg. thighs
and legs, the points forming a crust ; here and there, and itching, agg. warm
days ; on shoulders and back, agg. towards left with itching group of red P.
on left hip, in back and lower part of region of joint and below opening in
night after scratching. º Pustules. º Vesicles on right index, with itching ; V.
in groups on ulnar side of right thumb and radial side of index, with itching,
leaving dry scurfy spots ; carmine, round, elevated blood vesicles, the blood
disappearing on strong and steady pressure, but returning immediately, near
right nipple, on right side above navel side of chest, inside of right arm, the

larger ones becoming darker, somewhat resembling nævi materni.


º Soreness of warts on left hand. º Burning pain in spots on back of right
hand, angle of index and here and there on left hand. º Itching burning spot
externally near right eye. º Crawling in right sole ; on right shoulder in
evening, with itching.
º Itching ; in eyebrows ; right brow ; right side of face ; chest and right side
of nose ; middle of left scapula ; back ; small of back ; cicatrice of an
abscess on inside of left thigh ; right shin, left nates and forehead ; left heel ;
all day in different parts, agg. on back ; every morning and evening, on left
side of nape, on top and below shoulder, and on back ; in forenoon, amel.
rubbing, almost only on back, but sometimes on throat ; in scars on ball of
left thumb and joint of index in afternoon ; on left shoulder in afternoon, on
back in evening, agg. late at night till sleep, pimples on back ; of all
cicatrices in evening, they are all on left side, on thigh upper arm and left
hand ; on throat and chest in evening when walking ; in evening, changing
from the top of one shoulder to the other, with intermittent sticking ; on and
around right nipple in evening, next morning the nipple in larger, redder,
and areola darker and covered with a brownish crust, as of sweat and dust ;
agg. evening ; in centre of perineum, agg. evening ; in different parts, agg.
posteriorly ; sudden intermittent, above anus ; burning, in right eyebrow,
amel. after scratching ; pricking burning, near right side of os coccygis. º
Sticking itching in face ; inner side of left finger ; in spots in evening, agg.
left side, especially on side of chest towards back and on thigh, agg. 10 to 11
P.M. ; crawling, in points, usually in groups.

Clinical :- º Ulcerations of the legs, with varicose veins.


Sleep :- º º Sleepiness ; every forenoon, or so weary that he must lie down ;
periodical, in afternoon. º Sleepiness early in evening ; with sound sleep and
early waking ; and he lay down on the bed dressed, though the window and
door were open and the night cold he had taken no cold in the morning and
had not slept enough ; afterwards after a walk he is wide awake and
cheerful. º Sudden sleepiness in evening ; after wine he lies down and does
not wish to rise, on going to bed he is wide awake and the face warm. º
Sleeps in the evening more than usual. º Sleep long and sound ; profound S.
till late in morning, and confusion of head on waking. º Irresistible
sleepiness in morning, after a refreshing nap it returns every two hours till
evening. º Sudden falling asleep in evening, then sleep all night and long in
morning. º Sleepiness on going to bed, but inability to sleep on account of
his thoughts.
º º Sleeplessness ; till near morning, then short and light sleep refreshing
him as if he had slept all night ; with feeling as if he had slept ; S. in
evening. º Late falling asleep, frequent waking, many dreams, yet early
waking in morning and feeling better than usual. º Easily awakened if called
at night, but when walking weary, indifferent and relaxed. º Snoring in sleep
and exclamation in dreams. º Restless nights, with unremembered dreams ;
R., with dreams easy to remember, of the occurrences of the day.

º º Dreams towards morning ; only after midnight. º Frightful ; soon after


falling asleep, with waking at midnight, the rest of the night many dreams of
distant acquaintances. º Lucid, sometimes disagreeable. º Vivid, detailed,
soon forgotten ; of the thoughts of the day ; V. that he sees his nearest
relatives die. º That he was dead and ordered the rapid removal of the corpse
from the house ; of the death of his son and of the son of a friend, he
reproaches himself and weeps bitterly because he has neglected
examinations and remedies.
Fever :- º Chill towards evening ; C. in left arm and in whole body. º Heat ;
in evening, agg. next morning, with inclination to walk about naked, cold
bathing is very agreeable, agg. behind ears and on nape. º General heat in
evening after little exercise ; G. heat, with nausea ; with heaviness and
lameness. º Internal heat at night, feeling better in morning than usual. º
Sensation as if burning vapor emanated from all pores. º Heat under eyes ;
extending from centre of dorsal region to loins ; in right side, in face after
wine ; in face, agg. in morning, then agg. in evening, with desire to wash in
cold water ; in right palm in forenoon ; in forehead, increasing to pain. º
Glowing in a spot on outer lower part of right buttock in evening. º Heat in
flushes, like a warm breath, from nape to occiput. º Intermittent heat in face
in evening after animated conversation, with headache like a forcing deep
interiorly towards the left, then passing to left upper jaw, as if teeth ached,
even where the teeth had been extracted, with inclination to bite together
teeth which no longer existed.
º Sweat, agg. face ; S. from 7 to 8 P.M., and sensation of heat, agg. on right
upper part of body, especially along right side of nape, almost to shoulder,
as if in warm streams ; S., with anxious imaginings ; profuse sour, in
afternoon ; cold, clammy ; glutinous, evening, with itching here and there ;
dripping glutinous, warm evenings when walking.
