2C Special dates in Britain quiz

Aims  To expand students’ knowledge about special dates in


Britain. To give students the opportunity to work in a group and
conduct research using the Internet.
Time  15 minutes
Materials  1 handout for each group of three or four students;
students will require Internet access to research the answers to
the quiz.
• Divide the class into groups of three or four and give each
group a copy of the quiz. Set a time limit (5 minutes) in which
they must work together to complete the questions.
• Tell the class that they are now going to check their answers
by researching the information on the Internet. You could
get every group to research all of the questions and see
which team can find the answers most quickly. Alternatively,
divide the questions between the groups and then get them
to feed back the information they have found out to the
whole class.
• Useful websites: en.wikipedia.org  www.projectbritain.com
If Internet access is not available, give students the answers.
