ACTIVITY 1- QUESTIONS FOR REVIEW
MORALITY

Name: Janah Lyn. Yaranon

Year and Section: BSN II- Henderson

1. Differentiate Human act from Act of Man

Human acts are actions performed deliberately, freely, and intentionally by an individual. These are
actions that a man properly masters with complete knowledge and his own will, for he does them. Acts
resulting from intentional freewill. A man is completely accountable for the consequences of his actions.
The responsibility and accountability of man for the results of his/her actions while Acts of Man are
instinctive, such as in their physiological nature. Under the circumstances of ignorance, passion, fear,
violence, and habits, these are actions done. Acts that are performed by men without being their master
through their intellect and will, so man's acts are involuntary actions.

2. Explain the three elements that determine Morality

a. The act itself:

The human act's morality depends primarily on the object, rationally selected by someone who
intentionally exercises their will and intellect. For someone to judge whether an action is good or bad,
the object is the main indicator, other than intention and circumstance.

b. Purpose:
The end is the first objective of the intention in any human act and indicates the purpose pursued in the
action. The intention is a movement of the will towards the end, which is concerned with the activity's
objective. The intention is essential to an action's moral evaluation.

c. Circumstances:
"Circumstances" are secondary components of a moral act. They also decrease or increase the
responsibility of a person.' Circumstances mitigate a bad act by rendering it more appropriate or less
bad, or aggravate an act by increasing the effects. For example, depending on what is stolen, the parties
involved, and the location, the consequences of stealing are aggravated or mitigated.
3. Define the following terms:
a. Ignorance:
The condition of being uninformed or uneducated. Lack of knowledge or information.

b. Fear:
an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause
pain, or a threat.

c. Concupiscence:
This is defined as a strong desire for sexual arrousal.

d. Violence:
The use of physical force in order to harm, abuse, or destroy. This causes injury by distortion,
infringement or profanation.

e. Habit:
a settled tendency or usual manner of behavior

4. How do you explain the axiom: Fear diminishes the voluntary nature of an act
Basically this means "Fear prevents one to do an act" when one is experiencing fear in a particular
moment, He/She is in doubt of that certain action and cicumstances. Making his/her actions nulled or
delayed.

5. Differentiate antecedent from consequent concupiscence. Give your own example.

Antecedent Concupiscence- "The doer of the act is less responsible because the voluntariness is
lessened."

Example: When a delicious food is placed on the table the person/ doer of the act become hungry and
already has the desire to eat.

Consequent Concupiscence- "The doer of the act is fully responsible because voluntariness is present."

Example: When a person provokes oneself to do something because of personal will and emotion
driven.
