DT 03.G01 Cooling circuit recommendation

To provide effective protection of the engine against freezing,
chemical and galvanic corrosion, cavitation and depositing, it
is IMPERATIVE that you use coolant as defined in technical
documentation DT 03.G01 provided with the engine. These
products are available from the S. I. Moteurs Baudouin
network.

Total circuit capacity

Engine 6 M26.2: 79 litres

Cooling circuit
The engine is cooled by two circuits:
bb by a coolant circulating in a closed circuit (HT circuit),
bb by raw water (standard equipment) circulating in an open
circuit (LT circuit).
The closed circuit circulation pump situated on the front side
of the engine feeds the oil cooler, cylinder liners,
turbochargers and cylinder heads.
The coolant temperature is controlled by 2 thermostatic

Raw water circuit

Raw water is a general term regardless of the type of water
used (sea water, river water, mains water); by definition the
water has not undergone treatment.
Raw water is drawn in through the hull by the raw water
pump. It cools the fluid in the engine cooling circuit and the
air in the supercharger via heat exchangers. Raw water
backflow is discharged into the sea.
The circuit must be fitted with a filter, with a filtration rating of
at least 1mm to prevent any foreign bodies from entering the
DT 03.G03 circuit and causing damage.

Supercharging
Supercharger Air Cooling (SAC)
The cylinders are supplied with air by a turbocharger driven
by the exhaust gases.
The turbocharger is lubricated by the engine lubrication
system.
The air is drawn in by the turbocharger via a dry air filter
(ref. 15 08 038 1T).
Compressed air is cooled in an air/water exchanger.

The exchanger, fitted between the turbocharger and the

intake manifold, is cooled by the raw water circuit. The air
entering the engine is cooled to curb pollutant emissions and
significantly reduce the thermal and mechanical contraints
put on the engine.
Dry air filter Turbocharger
For engines equipped with a keel cooler, the supercharger air
is cooled by an independent low-temperature circuit which
also cools the reduction gear oil.

The air filter for the 6 M26.2 engines is designed to be fitted

directly to the engine; some applications may require a
high-performance air filter.
In this case, or for any type of fitting other than onto the
engine, please contact S. I. Moteurs Baudouin's technical
department.

The condensation due to the cooling of supercharger air and

humidity is constantly drained off via the drain located at the

DT 05.G01 Fuel circuit

bb Bleed the water separator filter and the tank low point. Fill
the tanks to avoid condensation in the empty section of the
tank (condensation produces water which accumulates in the
lower section of the tank).
bb Fuel cartridges will be replaced when the engine is brought
back into service and after bleeding the tanks and water
separator filter.

Dry air filter

bb Remove the filter, wrap it in greased paper and store it.
bb Block the turbocharger air inlet using a plastic plug in which
you will have drilled a 10mm hole so that the air does not
condense in the turbocharger.

Exhaust
bb Remove the exhaust pipe and block the tube on the engine
side using a plastic plug in which you will have drilled a
10mm hole. Do not reconnect the exhaust.

Slacken the belts, lubricate the pulley grooves with a

suitable product, disconnect the battery terminals, make
paint touch-ups.
