Mission Statement
The mission of the Gettysburg Singers is to provide a choral program that engages
students in grades nine through twelve in meaningful experiences of high-quality
music education and performance opportunities.

These artistic and educational goals include:

• Fostering leadership, accomplishment, self-worth, teamwork, pride, and

appreciation of music among singers, parents/guardians, and audience
members.

• Gaining knowledge of music reading, concepts, terminology, and healthy

vocal technique.

• Establishing a lifelong relationship with music of various genres, cultural

origins, and world languages.

• Fostering personal growth through music, regardless of race, color, religion,

gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, and
economic background.

Gettysburg Singers is a safe space for all students!

Concert Attire
Option 1 - Black dress pants/slacks with black dress shirt/top, black shoes.

Option 2 – Long black dress OR long black skirt with black top. Dresses and skirts
should be tea length (a mid-calf hemline) or full length (at the ankle/top of shoe).

Attendance
Members of the Gettysburg Singers are expected to be at all rehearsals and
performances. Please review the calendar of rehearsals and performances to
discover any scheduling conflicts early in the season. Rehearsals are every Monday
and Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 in Room 217.

Absences
Attendance at rehearsals are essential for the success of the group. If more than two
absences occur the singer may be asked not to perform in the concert. Please notify
me in writing by e-mail (heroam01@gettysburg.edu) at least 2 weeks in advance if
a conflict prohibits attendance at a rehearsal or performance.

Absences not related to school activities, family emergencies, or illness will be

considered unexcused and may result from dismissal of the group.

Students who wish to observe religious holy days are encouraged to discuss with
me in advance. We will make appropriate arrangements so that you may make up
missed work.
