Installing your CMG Licenses 

At this point in the CMG installation process, you have installed the software and have generated a 
HostID which you have emailed to CMG. The final step in the process is to install the License File sent to 
you by CMG. Here is a brief description of what you need to do. 
Further information on CMG Licensing can be found in the document A Guide to Using CMG Licensing. 

Note that you will need Administrator privileges on your computer in order to install your 
CMG License File. 

If You Have Installed CMG Software and Your License Server is on a 
Windows Computer 
The CMG License Utility may be used to install your CMG License File. Follow these steps: 
1. Save your CMG License File somewhere on your disk. In most situations, you should have 
received your license file from us as an email attachment with a “.lic” extension. Just save this 
file to a temporary folder where you can find it again in Step 3. 
2. Start the CMG License Utility. You can find a shortcut to this program in your CMG folder on the 
Start Menu. Once started, it should look similar to the following: 

 
3. Press the Load License File… button, and find the file you saved in Step 1. Press OK. 
4. The CMG License Utility will scan your file for correctness, and if everything is OK it will load the 
file in the appropriate location and restart your license server. 

If You Do Not Have the CMG License Utility or If Your License Server is a 
Linux or AIX Computer 
You may also install your license file manually using the RLM Administration Interface. Follow these 
steps on your license server computer:

 1. In most situations, you should have received your license file from us as an email attachment 
with a “.lic” extension. Just save this file as cmgl.lic to the <CMG_HOME>\RLMSecure folder on 
your disk. 
• On 32‐bit computers using the default installation settings, this folder is located at  
C:\Program Files\CMG\RLMSecure. 
• On 64‐bit computers using the default installation settings, this folder is located at 
C:\Program Files (x86)\CMG\RLMSecure. 
• On UNIX computers, the folder will be $CMG_HOME/rlmsecure directory.  
$CMG_HOME is an environment variable set to the CMG installation directory. 
If you received your CMG License File in some other form, such as with a “.txt” 
extension, be careful when renaming the file. If you have Windows Explorer set up to 
hide file extensions, the file may be renamed to “cmgl.lic.txt” even though it appears to 
be called “cmgl.lic”. The RLM server will not find the file if this is the case. 
2. Open your Internet Browser and go to the URL: http://localhost:5054/.  This will take you to the 
Reprise License Server Administration web page. 
If the page is not visible, try http://127.0.0.1:5054/. If this doesn’t work, check to see if 
the CMGL RLM Service is running. 
Previous versions of the licensing software (up to and including the General 2009 
Release) used port 9000.  The URL is http://localhost:9000/. 
3. Click on Status link, on the left side of the page.

 a. If the license file has been successfully loaded, you will see cmgl in the Name column.  
b. If the license file has not been loaded properly, it will read Server Down.  
4. If the license file is not working properly, Click Reread/Restart Servers on the left side of the 
page.  
a. In the ISV field, type cmgl. 
b. Click REREAD LICENSES button. 

 
c. Now click on the Status button again. If the License File is working properly, then you 
will see cmgl in the Name column.
