Cozad High School In-Depth Study Program Outline

OBJECTIVES:
Cozad High School includes the promise that all students will graduate from our school as
prepared for college/career as they can be. Regardless of the direction a student chooses, our
mission is to expose them to the right courses and opportunities to help them realize their own
true potential. Over the course of a student’s senior year of high school, they must begin making
their own decisions and form an educational plan to help them meet their goals. The Cozad High
In-Depth Study course allows students to focus on a Central Community College course during a
scheduled class period. This class grants students the opportunity to enter a postsecondary
institution with one or more college courses already completed. Students who are enrolled in this
course have proven to be scholars and will be held to a high standard.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

CLASSROOM POLICIES:
As with any other class, those enrolled in In-Depth Study must abide by the classroom rules.
While in class, ​students must all be sitting at separate tables and must be working on their
college courses.​ ​If students are enrolled in the same ​course AND section​, they may work
together. In the event that a student is caught up on all of their coursework, they are expected to
work on homework assignments from other classes.
MONTHLY GRADE CHECKS:
Transitioning into college level courses can be difficult for students. While enrolled in In-Depth
Study, students will be required to complete monthly grade checks. These will be done in order
to make sure students are finding success in their class. If a student is academically deficient, a
plan will be created in order to help them better their grade. Interventions may include new study
methods or online tutors.

PARENT/GUARDIAN APPROVAL:
In order for your child to participate in the Cozad High School In-Depth Study program, consent
must be given by the parent/guardian. Participating students must agree to the provisions,
procedures, and requirements of the program and must secure approval from their
parent/guardian. In addition to the previous, Principal and Guidance Counselor approval must
also be obtained. By signing this, you approve of your child to take this course. You also agree to
hold your child accountable to all policies and provisions listed in this In-Depth Study contract.

STUDENT AGREEMENT:
I acknowledge that I have reviewed the In-Depth Study requirements and expectations, discussed
the program with my parents, and agree to all provisions, procedures, and requirements. ​I agree
to complete this college course and agree to not drop this course before the semester ends​.
Failure to abide by the signed agreement may result in my removal from the program and I will
be subject to disciplinary action by Cozad High School.
