A fierce and strong lion broke a fence and got into a Cape Town holiday camp,
damaging a taxi parked nearby.
Jenny Adams and her family from Durban were on holiday at the Golden Game
Reserve Camp. Her children had never been to a game reserve before. She
decided to give them a treat to celebrate their good
results at school. She said that they were having
breakfast outside and enjoying the lovely view
around them when, at 08:30, her youngest son,
Shaun, saw a lion running into the camp.
“The lion seemed desperate and was running
around trying to find its way back to the game
reserve. It seemed lost and started charging
wildly,” she said. The lion attacked their brand
new Mercedes taxi. “I am not sure if our family taxi can be fixed, it is so badly
damaged,” she said.
The family could not pack their bags and go back home immediately because
they had no transport. Jenny had to call her sister to fetch them. Eventually at
10:00, the game rangers managed to get the lion back into the game reserve.
Game ranger, Moses Farman, said that they were not sure what had upset the
lion.
