Iron lathe waste contains Fe elements of 96.

54% so that it has the potential as a precursor of

hematite synthesis. In this study, hematite was synthesized using precipitation methods with
variations in synthesis temperature, namely 50 ℃, 70 ℃, and 90 ℃. The settling agent used is
green tea leaf extract (Camellia Sinensis). The synthesis product was calcined for 3 hours at 750
℃ and characterized using XRF, X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, and SEM. The XRD results
showed that the magnetite transition phase occurred after the precipitation process and hematite
formed after calcination. The crystallite sizes were 50.5 nm, 45.4 nm, and 39 nm. The results of
SEM showed that the resulting morphology was round and diverse at 50℃ and 70℃. The
morphology at 90℃ begins to be uniform but agglomeration still occurs. The identification
results of FTIR on the sample before calcination with a temperature variation of 90℃ and after
calcination hematite has been formed in the presence of a typical Fe-O group at wavenumbers
553 cm-1 and 451 cm-1.
