Professionalism is a seemingly vague term that you’ve never given much thought
to in the past. But now that you’re getting older, this word will gain more
importance. More often than not, we know it matters. We expect work to be
done well from delivery personnel to fast food crews to plumbers who repair
leaks.
Simply put, professionalism is the way you conduct yourself at work to represent
both yourself (now as a student) and your company (now APEC Schools, and a
company in the future, whether you own it or not) in a positive way. It includes

standards for behavior enumerated in a handbook, like following a dress code, as
well as specific actions that are harder to describe but still valuable and expected
to being a professional and doing things professionally.
Your “job” is to be a student, not just any student, but to be the best student you
can be. It is very much a fact that academics and education is the dress rehearsal
for the real life of job occupation and life responsibilities. The habits to be
exercised in the future need to be practiced now. Professionalism is an APEC
Habit.
We define Professionalism as “the skilled act and polished manner in doing work.”
It has the following behavior manifestations:
1. I do my best and honor my promises.
2. I project a professional appearance and practice proper grooming.
3. I am punctual in attendance, appointments, and deliverables.
4. I communicate in ways that are engaging, productive, and constructive.

3. The school should insist on accuracy and punctuality.
4. Teachers were to be employed on passing an admission examination on a
competitive basis if there are several applicants.
5. There is to be no racial discrimination in the admission of students.
6. Gymnastics and swimming are obligatory.
7. Classes would be six hours a day including a total of two hours of physical culture
and the arts.
8. Human relations between teachers and pupils should not be ignored. The
teacher should work with the students and be their leader and co-workers as well
as their mentor.
9. Instruction should be practical and should stimulate thinking rather than be a
parrot like reproduction of book learning. Students should learn by participation in
a natural situation. Field work has its place in effective instruction.
10. Education should receive substantial aid to make instruction effective. It is not
sufficient that there are students to be taught. There must be proper
accommodation and equipment conducive to learning.
11. The teacher should have prestige, reputation, moral strength and some
freedom of action.

Tips for a successful year of online education
Student conditions are quite different from what they were just a year ago. While
education remains important and the characteristics of a good student remain the
same, the environment requires some adjustments for a student to be successful in
this year’s online based education.
Write 5 Great Tips for students in our present situation. A great tip needs to be
specific and doable as well as having long term impact.
