SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

Approximately 1/2 Skeins Caron Simply Soft yarn (Bone)
85 grams/ 150 yards
Split ring stitch markers
Crochet hooks - size US G/6,US H/8 or I/9 depending on tension to obtain gauge
Metric sizes are 4.25mm, 5.00mm, and 5.50mm
UK size for H and I are a 6 and a 5 (G conversion not available as it’s between 7 and 8)

SPECIAL TERMS:
FPdc: (Front Post double crochet) Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around stitch
indicated, yo and pull up loop, complete as dc.
FPtc: (Front Post treble crochet) Yo twice, insert hook from front to back to front around stitch
indicated, you and pull up loop, complete as tc.
(Note: Skip st on current row behind FPdc).

DIRECTIONS:

In color A
Row 1. Chain 4, join into ring with sl st
Row 2. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc here and throughout pattern), 15 dc within the ring, join with
sl st into 3rd ch of beginning ch. (16 sts)
Row 3. Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, finish off
(32 sts)
Row 4. Join color B with sl st into any st, Ch 3, [2dc in next
st, 1 dc in next st] around, finish off (48 sts)
Row 5. Join color A with sl st into any st, Ch 1(counts as 1st
sc here and throughout pattern), sc in next st,[FPtc (1 row below
connecting to previous Color A), sc in
next 2 sts (sk the stitch directly behind the
FPtc)] around. * You will be connecting
the FPtc to every other st, 1 row below.
Finish off. (32 sc sts, 16 FPtc sts)
Row 6. Join color B with sl st into any FPtc st, Ch 1, [FPdc in
next 2 sts, joining to Color B 1 row below, sc in FPtc st] around,
join with sl st. (32 FPdc sts, 16 sc sts)
Row 7. Ch 3, dc in same st, [2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 Sts]
around. Finish off. (66 sts)
 Row 8. Join color A with sl st into any st, Ch 3, 2 dc in same
st as chain, [ch 2, 3dc in next st skipping 2sts between] around.
Finish off. (22 shells, 22 ch 2 spaces)
Row 9. Join color B with sl st into any ch 2 space, [2 sc, FPtc
(connecting directly below), 2sc] around working only in ch 2
spaces (should be 4 sc and 1 FPtc in each ch 2 space). Join with sl st
(110 sts)
Row 10. Ch 3, (dc, ch1, 2 dc) all in same st, *[dc in next 2 sts,
hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 18 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts,
(2dc, ch1, 2 dc)]*, [dc next 2 sts together (decrease), hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 18 sts,
hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 3sts (2dc, ch1, 2 dc)], repeat from * to *, [dc next 2 together
(decrease), hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 18 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts (2dc, ch1, 2
dc)] until 4 sides are complete. Join with sl st. ( Should be 18 sc on each side and two sides
that are across from each other with 1 decrease each to make the sides even)
Row 11. Ch 3, dc in next dc, [(tc, ch1, tc) OR (dc, ch1,dc if you like the smaller corners) all
in ch 1 space @ corner, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 17 sts, hdc in next 2
sts, dc in next 3 sts] around to complete square.
Row 12. Ch 3, dc until the ch 1 space @ corner, [ 5 dc in the ch 1 space, dc until next
corner] around. Finish off.
