CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter contains the research methodology that

includes the research design, flow of the study, the research

environment, research respondents, research instrument,

research procedures, statistical treatment of data and scoring

procedures that will guide the researchers in knowing the

Lifestyles of Senior High school Students in Indiana Aerospace

University and its contribution to stress.

Research Design

This study is conducted to determine the different lifestyles

of Senior High school Students of Indiana Aerospace University

and its contribution to stress.

The researchers used both qualitative and quantitative

approach in conducting the study. Qualitative approach, in a way

to utilize the narrative method to be able to concisely harness

varying facts and opinions of students. Quantitative approach

with a descriptive survey design to collect data and information

to be used in the research.

The respondents are randomly selected from Senior High

School that are currently studying any academic strand in

2

Indiana Aerospace University. Teachers are also randomly

selected to state and give their own opinion and knowledge

about the topic. The credibility of outcome and findings deeply

relied on the quality of research design, data collection, data

management, data analysis and interpretation.

3

Flow of the Study

INPUT

 Granted that different lifestyles of students could lead to stress

that would lessen the productivity or the performance of the

students, the researchers would like to know different kinds of

lifestyles of that leads to stress.

 The researchers would like to know prevent and avoid having

stress.

PROCESS

 Quantitative Design and Qualitative Design

1. The researchers will conduct a survey and interview

among the stated research respondents.

 Observation and analyzation of the collected data.

 Formulation of conclusion about the lifestyles of Senior High

school students in Indiana Aerospace University and its

contribution to stress

OUTPUT

 Conclusion and findings about the lifestyles of senior High

school students in Indiana Aerospace University and its

contribution to stress

The study was conducted in Indiana Aerospace

University/Indiana Learning Center located at Kagudoy Rd.,

Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines 6015. It is an institution of

learning which offers Basic and Tertiary levels of quality

Education. It is where the investigation started and will soon

ended in the same environment. Details of their phone number

which is (032) 236 2771/505-7445, or fax number (6332) 236-

the institution.

Research Respondents

The researchers will conduct an interview and survey with

the following respondents on the table that will help the

researchers collect enough and reliable sources, opinions and

thoughts. With the respondent’s cooperation researchers can

easily study and analyze the following problems about the study

which is written in the statement of the problem.

Research Instrument
7

In this research study, the researchers used two of the

following instruments namely:

a. Online Surveys

b. Survey Questionnaires

With these instruments the researchers can gather data

which will be used in finding answers to the research problem

through collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting and

concluding the data for the investigation.

Research Procedures

First, a discussion was done by Sir Jason D. Baguio, the

research teacher talked about the similarities and differences

between Research 2 and Research 3; afterwards the researchers

had a brainstorming to formulate three titles together with its

problems. The researchers then passed the three titles to the

research teacher for him to check it and approve. The

researchers then selected the title for the research paper. After

selecting the title, a recapitulation was done by Sir Jason D.

Baguio to remind the researchers on the similarities and

differences between the past and the present research and in

what to do in the research paper. The researchers then precede

to Chapter I of the research paper and passed it to the research

8

teacher to check the papers and to correct what is needed to be

corrected. The researchers will then proceed to Chapter II which

is the research methodology of the research paper and let the

research teacher check it for corrections. Next, the researchers

will make a questionnaire for both the survey and interview

which will be produced into copies, for the researchers to

conduct the gathering of data in the chosen research

environment. After the Chapter II, next is Chapter III, which is

the presentation, analysis and interpretation of the gathered

data. Following the Chapter III is the Chapter IV in which the

researchers will summarize the collected data of the researchers

from their survey and interview, the researchers will then give a

conclusion and recommendations from data collected.

Statistical Treatment of Data

These are the following formulas involved:

 Formula in getting the weighted mean:

WM= (∑fw)

(N)

WM – Weighted Mean

N – Total number of respondents

f – Frequency

x – Ratings

∑fx - Summation of the productof f and x

Scoring Procedures

The researchers have chosen the respondents and decided

to use specific statistical tool for the fifty respondents needed for

the study who will share their ideas and opinions to broaden the

learning of the researchers in solving the research problem. The

researchers used weighted mean as the statistical treatment of

data.

The data gathered will be interpreted and analyze using

the following categorical response.
