It’s safe to say that we’re all familiar with the English language adage implying that a
graphic illustration conveys a stronger message than words. However, I strongly disagree with
this. There’s no doubt that pictures do in fact capture memories, but it’s important that we
account for the specific words that provide us with the same fulfillment of that sort of imagery.
We all can reflect a word, poem, or even song that has sparked a distinct memory; Think about
it, Have you ever listened to a Christmas Song and instantly been brought back to a certain
occasion when the smell of cookies, gingerbread men, and hot cocoa filled your house? In my
experience, specific words have engulfed my body with emotions and memories of all sorts.
These emotions don’t necessarily have to be considered significant, but its nice to sit back and be
able to reflect them in that short moment of time. There’s one word that I believe provides me
with a more remarkable memory and level of imagery than one that could be conveyed by a
single still image. A word that is indeed very important to the English language, which is
Prolific.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word prolific has 4 different
meanings. 1.” (of an artist, a writer, etc.) producing many works, etc.” 2. “(of plants, animals,
etc.) producing a lot of fruit, flowers, young, etc.” 3. “able to produce enough food, etc. to keep
many animals and plants alive” and 4. “existing in large numbers”. Though the definitions vary,

surpasses the idea of being an overachiever and establishes a new level of accomplishments.
When you call someone prolific, it’s not just pointing out the way they do their job. But it’s
addressing them going above and beyond, being rare and not in the league of others in their field.
Whenever I hear the word “Prolific’ I automatically think of Nipsey Hussle, the perfect
example of what it means to be prolific. Nip embodied what it meant to be prolific as he not only
was he a businessman, but was an entrepreneur and an activist. He mentioned in his song titled
Victory Lap; “I’m prolific so gifted” and even got prolific tattooed on his neck. To me, Prolific
means excelling in production in the greatest way possible and Nip did exactly that. He not only
excelled in music but excelled when it came to giving back to his community, his knowledge,
and even his brand. Without the word prolific in the English Language, we may be settling. As
an overachiever, I often find myself not wanting to settle and never satisfied. I often find ways to
improve my craft no matter what the subject or field is. Nip alone has inspired Millions
nationwide and without his shared knowledge of what it means to be prolific who’s to know

most plentiful and abundant way ever. When reading my essay I hope you can get a glimpse of
the importance in the word prolific, it’s an honor to be referred to as prolific. The world gives me
a sense of hope, strength, and happiness. It touches me on a personal level and I do indeed feel
