Example Operation
Prior to deployment, the eRED-FB electronics are pre-programmed with the necessary instructions, including the
trigger parameters and tasks to be initiated when triggers are detected. The assembly is then permanently deployed
as part of the tubing string with the valve set in the open position allowing the completion to self-fill and for well
control purposes. Once at depth, any debris can also be circulated out of the well.

As per program, the electronics close the valve section using either a timer or hydrostatic pressure as the trigger.
Internal pumps circulate hydraulic fluid around the closed-loop circuit to shut the valve.

Since the electronics only respond to pre-defined pressure being applied for the pre-defined time, any pressure
applied outside these defined values is ignored. This allows unlimited and various pressure tests to be applied to the
tubing without re-opening the eRED-FB. Tubing integrity tests, packer setting or christmas tree commissioning can
all be accomplished while the valve remains closed.

Having finished all necessary operations, the eRED-FB can then be re-opened by the electronics, this time using
either a timer or pressure/timer as the trigger. The internal pumps circulate the hydraulic fluid in the opposite direction
around the closed-loop circuit to re-open the valve.

When the operations are completed, the eRED-FB assembly is left downhole. The open valve providing maximum
flow through to maximise production or injection rates and giving full bore access to equipment further down the well.
At any time the valve can be closed and re-opened with either wireline or coiled tubing operations.

Applications
eRED-FB is a particularly flexible tool, providing remote control of injection or production flow through the tubing.
The electronics module can be pre-programmed with multiple tasks for planned operations but also allows for
contingencies to be initiated when the unexpected happens. eRED-FB would be suitable for use in any situation
where:

• Remote control over the well fluids is required but only for a limited period of time

• Remote control over the well fluids is required but the use of control lines is not suitable or desirable

• Operational flexibility is preferred during well completions, again without surface control lines
