STEVENS’ NORMAL DAY

Hello my name is Sam Stevens, I am forty four


years old, I am married, I am a manager for a
clothing store in San Francisco, I live in a house
with my family and I have two children.

Every day I get up at 6,45 a.m., I have a shower,


then have breakfast, I like to have tea and
cornflakes. I leave home at 7:45 and go to work by
bus, I always take the 8:00 o’ clock bus and get to
work at 8:30; I have lunch from 1:00 p.m until
2:00 and finish work at 6:00 in the evening.

When I get home, I read the newspaper, have


dinner about 7:30, after I take the dog for a walk, later I have a quick
shower and go to bed at eleven p.m.

Secretaries perform routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting
correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and
electronic files, or providing information to callers. They also answer telephones
and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate
individuals.

Other tasks include:

 Greet visitors or callers and handle their inquiries or direct them to the
appropriate person according to their needs.
 Create, maintain, and enter information into databases.
 Use computers for various applications, such as database management or
word processing.
 Perform payroll functions, such as maintaining timekeeping information and
processing and submitting payroll.
 Collect and deposit money into accounts, disburse funds from cash
accounts to pay bills or invoices, keep records of collections and
disbursements, and ensure accounts are balanced.
 Operate office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, or phone systems
and arrange for repairs when equipment malfunctions.
