II. NARRATIVE REPORT/EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This quarterly activity was conducted at Mercedes National High School on October 2018, which were
attended by 1,091 participants from said school that composed of students, teaching and non-teaching
personnel. Likewise, this was participated by some BFP personnel coming from Mercedes and Guiuan
municipalities. The significance of this is to enhance the capacity of the school personnel and students to
prevent and to deal with disaster and to avoid developments which are subject to high risk of disaster. The
highlight of the activity is the earthquake drill where all participants are taught on how to deal with such
disaster. This activity become successful through the full cooperation of all concerned personnel in the school

V. MAJOR PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

During the course of the drill, numerous problems were encountered. Notable problems include
confused students and coordination and response issues. However, with the help of the invited BFP personnel,
such issues were clarified during the Health hazard symposium and open forum.

VI. OTHER INSIGHTS/RECOMMENDATIONS

Notable feedback from teachers and school personnel regarding the quarterly conduct of earthquake
drill is that is very helpful especially that earthquake is unpredictable as to when it will occur. When other
stakeholders discovered such activity in the school they become interested to participate on the upcoming drills
regarding earthquake. Hopefully, this activity be sustain for the benefit and safety of everybody in the school
and in the community.
