RIH, POOH Tubing Operation Procedure

1. Purpose and Scope

procedure.
This regulation applies to oil (gas, water) well RIH and POOH tubing operation.
2. Preparation
2.1 File preparation
2.1.1 The geological design and engineering design should be intact and accurate.

2.1.3 If the tubing with a special type of thread or made with special material, we shoul
have tubing RIN operation design, and operation, transportation, and
instruction.
2.2 Operation equipment preparation

2.2.2 Drill line should meet the rated load.When there are more than 10 broken wires in a
lay, we should change the drill line.
2.2.3 Check power tong, pipe wrench, elevator, etc. The power tong should be hanged at
s u i t a b l e p l a c e w i t h a t a i l l i n e , a n d w i t h a t o r q
validity.

tong and no mark jaw etc.
2.2.5 The dope should be clean and without polluted, for the gas tight thread, we should
use special dope.
2.3 Tubing preparation
2.3.1 Th e t y p e , q u a n t i t y a n d s t e e l g r a d e
Different type of tubing should be put at different place.
2.3.2 Pipe bridge should not less than 3 support point, and the level should not less than
0.2m above the ground. There should not be more than 4 layers. Forbid walking on

the tubing.
2.3.3 Clean tubing.Break out the thread protector of the two ends of the tubing, clean the
tubing body and thread. Forbid repairing the thread and sealing surface of the tubing
on site. We should also keep the thread dry.
2.3.4 Check tubing.Visually inspect the body and the thread of box and pin, pick out the
damaged tubing and separate them with others.
2.3.5 Drift all of the tubing, and using nonmetal drift for special tubing.
2.3.6 Tubing measure. Measure tubing with steel measure tape three times, cumulative
error less than 0.2m every 1000m.
2.3.7 Install thread after that, fasten them by hand.
3. Operation procedure
3.1 Work preparation
3.1.1 Wellbore preparation: keep the well stable and without overflow, install BOP, and
pressure tested qualified.
3.1.2 Tools, equipment and materials should be in position. And check torque monitor
system, set the operation parameter, test before using.
3.1.3 For the gas tight thread, we must confirm the setting of making up torque.
3.1.4 For the tubing made with special material, we set anti-impaction rubber on the ramp
to prevent impaction.
3.2 RIH tubing
3.2.1 The tubing must have a thread protector when being lifted to floor, and nonmetal
sling must be used.
3.2.2 Daub dope to the pin thread before making up and keep uniform and thin with
nonmetal brush.
3.2.3 Making up by hand or belt spanner, until cannot be moved.
3.2.4 Continue making up by power tong until to the designed torque.
3.2.5 Judge the quality of the making up operation by the torque curve.
3.2.6 Slack off at a no more than 5m/min speed.
3.3 POOH tubing
3.3.1 Keep enough fluid in bole, and fill the well every 10-20 joints.
3.3.2 According to hoisting capacity, well depth and string structure, determine the POOH
speed.
3.3.3 Breaking out the string with power tong completely, then lifting it.
3.3.4 Install clean thread protector, put it stand on the floor or on the suitable pipe bridge.
3.3.5 Control the speed when picking up the last several tubing, to prevent damage the
well head.
3.3.6 Check the tubing and record them, separate the damaged tubing from the normal
ones.
4. Safety requirement
4.1 Install falling, blowout preventer at well head.
4.2 Do not beat the tubing with hammer.
4.3 Observe the condition of workover rig, derrick, derrick guy line and traveling system,

if find there is a problem, stop and deal with it immediately.

4.4 There should be fire and blowout emergency handing measures.
