ADJECTIVE / RELATIVE CLAUSES

Adjectives mean any word which modifiers nouns. To make it easier for you to understand, please follow the
following steps:

Noun : Woman (in English a noun cannot stand by its own, it must be
modiefied by such determiners as a/the/this/that/........
Determiner : A woman
Adjective : A beautiful woman
Adverb : A very beautiful woman
Preposition : A very beautiful woman by the window
Noun Phrase : A very beautiful woman by the window .....

Noun : Woman
Determiner : A woman
Adjective Clause : A woman who is sitting by the window

Thus an adjective cluase is a clause (S-P-O-A) that functions as an adjective (i.e. modifies a noun)

A man who has too great expectations from his daughter may be disappointed
The bank where he keeps his money is a very old and reliable one
The earth which revolves around the sun is called a planet
A queen who serves as a symbol of nobility and dignity is loved by her people
A man who is very strict with his children believes that young people need a sense of discipline
The rains which the farmers were expecting them

A. Change and insert the second sentence into the first sentence!
