“LEI”
COMMON USE ITALIAN SENTENCES

LEI 🡪 Lei does not only mean “she” in Italian. It is also

used as a courtesy form both if the person you’re
talking to is a man or a woman.

E.g.
talking to a friend: ciao, come stai?
Talking to someone older than you, your boss,
someone you don’t know etc.: salve, come sta?
 ● Ciao, come stai? (Hi, how are you?)
● Come sta (Lei)?
● Come state (voi?) (How are you all?)
● Bene grazie e tu? (Good thanks what about you?

● Ciao, come va? (Hi, how is it going?)

● Bene grazie e tu? (Good thanks what about you?

● Ciao, che si dice/che mi racconti? (Hi, what’s up?)

● Niente di che, tu? (Nothing much, what about
you?
