PART 1

Illustration of Activities

This activity is all about creating a system proposal that will handle online

services with corresponding documentation and source code. This activity is consist of

two groups to participate with its own individual members assigned to every parts of the

project to create a system that will manage the online services transactions between

buyers and sellers with the coordination management and security coming from the

administrators and staff members. The day-to-day operations of the canteen are

managed either by a paid worker or a volunteer. School councils usually form a canteen

committee to manage canteen issues. All profits from the canteen are transferred to the

school council. Income from the canteen must be adequate to meet expenses incurred

including provision for staff superannuation, sick leave, annual leave and other benefits

and depreciation.

Weekly Diary

WEEK 1:

Today, we were briefed and instruct on what our project will going to be is the

continuation of System in Gr11 semester. Coordinated with members and a group to

create the system with a little brainstorming what would our system would be look like

WEEK 2:

We began to create introductions and interview related individuals regarding the

system to create as one

WEEK 3:

Our topic is finalized and that would be the “Canteen Management System” in

World Citi Colleges which will focus on the typically to provide service for the product

the consumer will buy and to assists the seller in managing transactions management

with staff and admins.

WEEK 4:

We divided into two groups with each other according to different task assigned

with each member of the said groups. Documentation and system coding were handled

with members that is most suitable to the part of the project.

CHAPTER I

OVERVIEW OF THE PROPOSED AND CURRENT SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

To our Generation today, many advancement in technology has already been

development, to help improve qualities of living, easier way of doing task that is

beforehand is much more time consuming and more of “Long in the tooth” process, now

we’ve all encountered and experience the life of waiting to order, its specially the case

in restaurant, Canteen, or any other establishment that serves many people all around

the world, the process is easy now a days in queuing specially that we have a program

to support the roles intended for the services.

“P.O.S” (Point Of Sales) is the system that provides sale interaction between

consumer and the seller, typically to provide service for the product the consumer will

buy and to assists the seller in managing transactions between them two, This provides

inventory management, menu customization, price adjustments, sales reporting,


customer management, marketing initiates, and other functions. The Point Of Sales

system is one of the fundamental Resources needed for the smooth running of

Restaurant, Canteen and other establishment, this is provided by the fact it tracks the

food sales and as a time clock where it oversees time of sales and other beneficial

functions provided.

We all know that having to go buy foods at our canteen specially lunchtime where

every student is rushing, gets hassled not only those who buying, but also those who

serves them, Imagine the time consumed in just buying foods, the observations,

especially to our own school, shows the limiting capacity the canteen have today, and

we are sure that, many have experienced the way of management of our canteen in our

own school, some schools may have less of a problem when it comes to this, but some

also shows signs of those problems specially schools who are in big capacities like our

school World Citi Colleges, The range of students rushing to canteen in order to buy

foods and beverages can be overwhelming to those who server the consumers, to the

point where it lags behind in effective and fast sales, we could see this every day in our

school especially during free time or lunch breaks, we can’t deny the fact that our school

needs another way of improving the current way of managing the canteen sales.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM

This system proposal aims to and is made for the following purposes:

General Objective

The main objective of the Canteen Management System is to manage the details of

Food, Items, Sales, Products, Canteen. It manages all the information about Food,

Orders, Canteen, Food. The project is totally built at administrative end and thus only
the administrator is guaranteed the access. The purpose of the project is to build an

application program to reduce the manual work for managing the Food, Items, Orders,

Sales. It tracks all the details about the Sales, Products, Canteen.

Specific Objective

• To Reduce the cost of maintenance

• To provides the uses with a quick response

• To improves the working methods by replacing the existing manual system with

the computer-based system.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The people of this era in which are now in the dependency and well aware of

technological advancement, this is conducted to find the present-day problems and

come up with important innovation and/or improvements.

This study will be beneficial to the future of the following groups:

Canteen Staffs- Management is always necessary for fast service, the staffs will

have the most impact for this provides the necessary improvement between consumer

seller interactions, reducing workload and easier manageability of services.

School Administrators- This study aims improve the already implemented

system, the administrators can reflect and provide adequate actions to improve the

Canteen system.
Students & Teachers- “Time is always the essence”, this will be beneficial for

both students & teachers for this will give more efficiency and control over the time

wasted in just waiting in line.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study focuses on finding the problem and solution in relation to the topic

they have chosen. It yearns to study the Canteen management inside the school. The

researchers aim to seek the Improvement in implementation of Canteen Sales

Management System, to seeks and give attention to what has been less prioritized

sector of the school, the issue of having other problems besides what the researcher

tackling meant that it needs to be given more attention.

“C.S.M.S” Functions almost like “P.O.S” providing almost the same features and

functionality but the main difference is that “C.S.M.S” is almost the simplistic version of

“P.O.S”, but even in its simplistic form still provides the important aspect like sales

management, calculation, Item management, Etc., the system can be flexible enough

for the user to modify the necessary needs for the management, here is some of the

functionality that is inside the “C.S.M.S”:

• Sales data log

• Items modification

• Auto-calculation
• Item receive and payment check

To provide results, the study will be conducted in the time of Recess or lunch break,

observation of the consumers (or the students and teachers) of the school, and can be

only conducted within school premises inside canteen, and limiting factors that would or

could affect the process of the study is like any other technological program, “C.S.M.S”

suffers to the same technological problem whims, Having system crash can leave to

Data loss, or malfunction and inoperative of the system.
