MINUTES OF MARCH 17TH, 2009 STAGG MUSIC BOOSTER MEETING

In Attendance: Chris Chialdikas, Ismadi Wooten, Bob Mecozzi, Dan Ciametti, Crystal
Page, Colleen Jahn, Karen Lencioni, Patty Campione, Brana Gallegos and Shawn Brown.

Meeting called to order at 7:15pm.

Previous Minutes: Motion to approve by Dan Ciametti, second Chris Chialdikas.

Treasurer’s Report: Winter Guard profit was $3,192.85. Sales were $2,987.45,
concessions $1,650.50 and expenses $1,410.10. In response to Linda Campbell’s request
last February on whether or not we are breaking even on choir wear payment/rentals the
uniforms are in the red by - $1,528.65. Chris included the lined item in this month’s
balance sheet. Chris is in need of next years miscellaneous budgets for Jamboree(Lynda
S), Band Banquet & Junior H.S. Pizza Night (Ismadi), Craft Show (Karen L.& Patty C.),
Scholarship (Melissa G.) and Marching Band Pizza Party (Dalia).

Administrator’s Report: Unable to attend, but left a written report stating that the district
does not have any sort of contract with rental trucks, so, boosters can rent from
whomever they choose. She is also waiting to hear from Bell Shares about the web
domain information for the booster web site. She will contact Lynda S. when she gets the
information.

Director’s Reports:
Mr. Mecozzi discussed all the upcoming events for the bands. Jazz band has one more
performance on Monday March 30th—‘20’s Night. Musical April 16th, 17th and 18th. On
April 25th Plainfield Concert Band Invitational- TimeTBD-Will get itinerary together
once times are determined. He is trying to send out weekly reports to parents regarding
news and information. Craft Show March 21st & 22nd and student help is always greatly
appreciated. Kevin and Jeff leave for BOA in Indianapolis. April 27th there is a
Marching Band Informational Meeting @ 7pm in PAC. Section Leader and Drum Major
interviews are the week of April 20th-24th. Special congratulations to Alan Shewchuk on
receiving the Music Department Senior Award.

Color/Winter Guard: No Report

Choir: The past week-plus in the choir world:

85 Bowling Green State Men’s Chorus members and 55 New Tradition’s Men’s Chorus
from Northbrook lit up the stage on March 7th. March 11th was the”Wish it were Spring”
Choral Concert that went very well for all groups performing.

March 14th the Luther College Collegiate Chorale and Jazz Orchestra (92 musicians
strong) performed at Andrew HS to the delight of the audience and were marvelously
hosted by families from Stagg, Andrew and the area.
March 18th topped off the whirlwind choral stretch with the SWSC Choral Festival at
Lincoln Way East High School during the day. Varsity Choir performed along with
choirs from Bradley, Bolingbrook, Andrew, Homewood Flossmoor and Lockport. Treble
Choir students also came along to here all the performing choirs and then participate in
the massed women’s choir. The men of the choirs also worked up two number and the
two massed choirs sang for each other to end the day.

Now the choirs begin new literature to present at the final choral concert on May 13.

Committee Reports:
External Communications---Chris C. is still collecting senior pictures for Music Banquet
video.

Scholarship---Applications still available in the band and choir rooms. Applicants must
be music majors. Deadline is April 8th, 2009.

Membership---Colleen Jahn reported that hospitality provided treats for the Band and
Choir Concerts on March 10th and 11th.

Marching Uniforms---There is still one Marching Band uniform missing and one uniform
still need’s to be cleaned.

Spring Craft Show---Crystal & Heather are still in need of volunteers and items. Karen
and Patty announced at the meeting that they retained there own lawyer to handle the
contract. They have 90 vendors, but expect more at the last minute.

Fundraisers---Ted’s Greenhouse will again participate in a school fund-raiser. It will be


from May 15th - June 15th. Money will go directly to the individual student accounts.

Band Banquet---Scheduled for May 4th at the Lexington House. There will be no
balloons this year; instead there will be vases of orange & blue carnations. Ismadi needs
story boards from choir students.

Nominating Committee--- It was announced that Colleen Jahn and Cathy Maier will
conduct the search.
