Instructions:

Name 5 things in a category as quick as possible. Example:

“Tell me 5 types of transportation”

Answer: “bus, train, car, plane, ferry”


Types of Tenses:
There are 3 Tenses with 4 categories for each tense.

How do we form sentences in the 4 categories of the
Present Tense?
(Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous)

Each category has a basic structure/formula.


Simple Present Tense
I + eat + pizza.
(Subject + V1 + Object)

Saya makan pizza. (General fact)


I eat pizza sometimes/on Fridays.

Saya kadang-kadang makan pizza/Saya makan pizza pada hari


Jumaat.
(This action happens at certain times)
Present Continuous Tense
I + am + eating + pizza.
(Subject + is/am/are + V2+ Object)

Saya sedang makan pizza. (The action is happening now* or in the


present time)

They are constantly eating pizza.

Mereka selalu makan pizza. (This action happens all the time)
Present Perfect Tense
I + have + eaten + pizza.
(Subject + has/have + V4 + Object)

Saya pernah makan pizza. (The action has been done before)

I have eaten the pizza already.

Saya sudah makan pizza itu. (The action is completed)


Present Perfect Continuous Tense
I + have been + eating + pizza.
(Subject + has/have been + V2+ Object)

Saya makan pizza selama ini. (The action started in the past
and continues to the present)

She has not been eating pizza for 3 months.

Sudah 3 bulan dia tak makan pizza. (The action has


been happening for a period of time)
