RECRUITMENT IDEAS

Paul Conway
The following concepts focus on National youth Convention and General Counsel, but similar
intentionality should be given to our District Youth Conventions/Summer camps and rallies.

1. National Youth Convention: We have a rare window with national Youth Convention and Fine Arts
Festival that we should maximize. Since this is a bi-annual event with all of our potential target
audience exercising their gifts for ministry at fine arts and open to Gods call at National Youth
Convention and General Council as Pastoral Leadership. The following are some ideas with my
rational. All our efforts for the nets few months should be focused on capturing and captivating the
attention of this audience

 Top Quality Video: We should have a video that is worth playing on the main stage of
National Youth Convention. The following steps should be taken.
1. Create a high quality video for stage and booth (This may be necessary to
spend and do again before General Council since we crammed a clip for our
youth conventions this spring. If we are going to spend, it should be on a
mode of communication that will speak the language of our target
audience.
2. President secures a showing of the video in the service.
3. President secures a door for one of our relevant team members to take the
stage at National Youth Convention after the video to throw the pitch for
Zion verbally.
4. We need to refine our “sales pitch” and develop a story board theme for a
quality video.
 Top Quality Prep Team:
1. We should formulate a promotions committee for General Council and National
Youth Convention/Fine Arts Festival that meets regularly and continues as an
ongoing think tank. Continuous motion, thought and preparation should be
given to this major event.
 Top Quality Booth
5. Presidents uses influence for a location of top quality.
6. Should include students. Who knows students better than students
7. Use an experience theme approach like around the world “Walk through”
8. Secure a proper sized booth
9. Use student form the missions conference
10. Rather than construct it in a vacuum, utilize student input so we are more
relevant.
11. Construct a booth
12. Have a booth in keeping with the partner schools like VFCC, Southeastern,
North Central, Northwestern.
 A publications and marketing strategy for the following
1. Pastors who might send or support our school with students or money
2. Leadership on our national and regional level
3. Students who will come to our booth
4. Students and how we can go to them at nationals in halls and stadium
5. Fine arts students who will associate their talents for ministry with Zion as the
right place for them to attend when they are associating their experience there
and the choice for college later
6. For example
 Web page strategy
 Video Strategy
 Youth Convention and Summer camp strategy
 National youth Conference strategy
 Pastor and Parents strategy
 Promotional strategy
 Events strategy
 Eg. A luncheon with strategic influencers for potential student
audience.
 Top Quality Team
1. A team that can cover all generations and groups
 Leaders
 Youth
 Alumni
 Top Quality Promotion ideas
1. We need a fresh look at some ideas like giveaways. Many would say we have
had little return from promotional giveaways. This is hard t measure. For
example. A t shirt. NO one will say that came to school from a t shirt. However,
if they are given one they make association with the event, the shirt and the
school.
2. We should be tapping into the mind of students and professionals who are
skilled at researching what is hot and what is not and spending with
intentionality.
