The Importance of Eating Less Fast food

Good Morning, ladies and gentlemen.

We know that, fast food is one type of food that is in demand by the world community,
especially Indonesia. Besides not being a hassle, fast food also doesn't waste a lot of time, or in
other words, it's always ready to eat and has delicious taste. This causes Fast food to be
consumed too often by most people, especially in urban areas and for those who are busy at
work. Fast food is usually high in cholesterol and sugar, but low in vitamins, fiber and minerals.
Today, I’d like to tell you why we should eat less Fast food. To start with, I’ll explain 3 reasons
why we should eat less Fast food. The first, fast food has low nutritional content. Second, fast
food that contains ingredients that are harmful to the body. Third, fast food has a negative impact
which can cause various diseases. Finally, I’ll summarize my presentation.

Firstly, reason why we should eat less Fast food is because fast food has low nutritional
content. Why fast food has low nutritional content? Because fast food contains calories, fat
content, sugar and sodium (Na) which is high but low in fiber, vitamin A, acorbic acid, calcium
and folate. The level of sugar content in fast food puts your metabolism out of control. For
instance, according to Muliany (2005), French fries contain 220 calories. One pack of instant
noodles contains 330 calories. The 6-piece chicken nuggets contain 250 calories. Therefore, we
must reduce the consumption of Fast food which only has a low nutritional content.

Next, I will talk about fast food that contains ingredients that are harmful to the body.
Because additives in fast food used for preservatives can trigger cell mutations. In addition, dyes
cause allergies and liver cancer. Addictive substances in fast food are used as preservatives that
can trigger cell mutations. In addition, the dye causes allergies and liver cancer. For example,
according to Septiyani (2011), fast food contains additives that can be addictive and stimulate the
desire to continue eating it as often as possible. Therefore, I believe that fast food contains
ingredients that are harmful to the body.

The last reason why we should eat less Fast food is because fast food has a negative
impact which can cause various diseases. Why can fast food cause various diseases? Because,
Most of the fast food contains bad cholesterol and excessive sugar can lead to obesity and
diabetes. Cholesterol buildup in the blood vessels too can cause diseases, such as hypertension
and coronary heart disease. As nutritionist Prischalia Rahfidanita says, fast food makes a person's
body susceptible to disease. In the long term, it even invites serious diseases such as diabetes,
stroke, hypertension, and even the heart. So, we have to eat less fast food, which has a negative
impact on causing various diseases.

In summary, consuming fast food that only has low nutritional content, contains harmful
ingredients, causes various kinds of diseases is not good for our health. Therefore, perhaps
avoiding or reducing eating fast food is important and will have a good impact on our health if
we reduce consumption. My suggestion, we can start to replace eating fast food with eating
organic food which is healthier for our bodies both in the short and long term.
