Applicability:
Honeywell PEG I FM Hardware kit:
- FMGC P/N C13042xxxxx
- FMGEC P/N C128xxxxxx ; C13200xxxx

Description
FMG(E)C is latched in pre-flight: recovery of the concerned FMG(E)C may require
several resets up to a reset with engines off (full restart of the FMS).
A fault called “0/0 No failure” is logged in the FMS BITE DUMP and is at the origin
of the above behaviour.
In service reports revealed that this “0/0 No failure” fault was observed upon
power transient and most of the time observed at engine start.
This FMS software failure (“0/0 No failure”) does not require removal of FMGC as
no hardware failure is detected.
This “0/0 No failure” can only be spotted in the FM BITE DUMP.

Consequence
FMG(E)C can only be retrieved by performing a manual reset (cold start) of the
concerned FMG(E)C.
Issue may require several cold starts:
- FMGC C/B reset for more than 4 seconds on A320 family aircraft
- FMGEC C/B reset for more than 5 seconds on A330 family aircraft

A cold start with engine off may be required (ref FCOM PRO-SUP-22-10 Manual
FMGS/FMGEC Reset).

Investigation Status
Root cause full identification could not be identified by Honeywell.
Most suspected root cause is a software/hardware transient communication issue
with PEG I FM Hardware kit.

Mitigation
Refer to:
- A320 family: FCOM PRO-SUP-22-10 MANUAL FMGS RESET
- A330 family: FCOM PRO-SUP-22-10 MANUAL FMGEC RESET
Nota: Reset with engine off may be required (Resetting the FMS with engine off
ensures a full restart of the FMS).

Maintenance Information
Since it is only possible to confirm with the FM BITE DUMP whether the reported
latch is the consequence of the concerned “0/0 No Failure” fault:
Root cause analysis will require the DUMP of the FMS BITE:
- A320 family: AMM 22-70-00-610-006 Downloading of the FM Data, as part
of overall TSM 22-83-00-810-893 FMGC Malfunction.
- A330 family: AMM 22-70-00-610-808 Downloading of the FM Data
as part of overall TSM 22-70-00-810-827 FMGEC malfunction.

Then, in terms of serviceability of the concerned FMGC:

- A320 family: TSM 22-83-00-810-867(8) FMGC x Inoperative
- A330 family: TSM 22-70-00-810-828 FMGEC Failure

Nota: a passed AFS test allows to confirm serviceability of the concerned

FMG(E)C. If the AFS1 test is passed, it is not necessary to remove the FMG(E)C.

Permanent Solution
FM PEG II hardware kit has not exhibited the issue as of today.
- FMGC P/N with FM PEG II hardware: C13207xxxx
- FMGEC P/N with FM PEG II hardware: C13226xxxx
