My eating habits:
All around the globe, the majority of people eat 5 times in small portions. They
eat breakfast, elevenses, lunch, 5’o clock tea and dinner. I also have 5 full meals
a day.
I agree with the saying: eat your breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and
dinner like a pauper.
I have breakfast at seven o’clock before going to school. Honestly, I have a
substantial breakfast: I usually have sunny-side-up eggs with bacon, sometimes
milk with gritz, and sandwiches for breakfast.
Then, when I’m at school, I have elevenses around ten’o clock: I have a
sandwich, which is quite healthy as it consist of cold cuts and fresh vegetables.
I have lunch after the school. I usually have three courses: a starter, a main
course with pickles and some dessert, as I have a sweet tooth and I love
yummy cakes. For a starter I have a soup, which is a tradition in Hungary. My
favourite one is Újházy chicken broth, which is one of our national dishes. The
main course is usually some meat (beef, pork or fish) with garnish. To tell the
truth, I never eat lamb, because it tastes too sweet. I also have pickles because
they support digestion. I sometimes skip dessert because I’d like to save my
waist-line.
When its 5’o clock, I have 5’o clock tea: I have some snacks, and drink tea. At
dinnertime, around 8’o clock, I often eat some overleft food, toasted
sandwiches.
A British breakfast: British people have an abundant and greasy breakfast: they
have sausages with scrambled eggs and baked beans. They also have black
pudding and most of them like porridge. Tea is an indispensible part of their
meals.
Healthy eating: I try to be moderate in terms of eating. I pay attention to
healthy eating and control what I eat. Experts say it’s essential to follow a
balanced diet and eat five times a day in small portions. We should all eat a lot
of fibres (wholemeal bread and cereals) and drink two litres of liquid every
single day. It’s also fundamental to eat fruits and vegetables every day and we
shouldn’t consume fatty food or sugar-loaded drinks. Eating greasy food and a
lot of carbohydrates can have very serious consequences: obesity and high
blood sugar level.
I never eat chrisps and I only eat a moderate amount of chocolate, but
sometimes I have snacking cravings and I eat some unhealthy food.
My favourite food:
As I have mentioned, I have a sweet tooth and one of my favorite dishes is
pancake. If you’d like to prepare delicious pancakes, you’ll need the following
ingredients: flour, eggs, salt, milk, and sugar. This is not a difficult recipe, and
even if I’m not a real kitchen fairy, I can make it. Fortunately, I’m not a picky
eater, but I don’t eat any kind of food. It is very important to consume plenty of
vegetables and fruits and do regular exercise.

Hungarian Cuisine: The Hungarian cuisine is world famous. We make most of

our food using sour cream and lots of condiments. Foreigners say we cook and
fry very spicy. We eat pickles and sour cream for a lot of food. We also have
famous soups such as fishermen’s soup and Újházy chicken broth. I really like
noodles with cottage cheese, stuffed cabbage, and we boast a lot of national
specialties. Tripe is very difficult to digest food and most people don’t even like
it. Goulash is our most famous soup. Besides these,we also make excellent
desserts such as apple strudel or poppy-seed cake.

Family meals: In our family, meals are very calm and loving. My mom cooks
and bakes extremely delicious dishes. We usually eat together, these moments
need to be exploited because we don’t always have time for it. For dinner, we
usually eat cooked meals, leftovers, but rarely sandwiches as well. I also really
enjoy those family meals when the whole family is together: our cousins, our
uncles, our grandparents, and the rest of the family. When we gather round
the table, we usually discuss important family issues.
Festive meals: At Easter, we usually eat Easter ham, horse-raddish and hard-
boiled eggs. Religious people begin fasting 40 days before Easter and end it at
Easter.
We eat various types of food at Christmas, as it is the most important family
occasion. This includes roast duck, gingerbread, poppy-seed cake, turkey,
stuffed cabbage and fishermen’s soup.
On birthdays, we eat cake and pastries and drink soft drinks.

Restaurants anf fast-food chains: Sometimes we eat out, which means that we
go to a restaurant. A few weeks ago we celebrated my father’s birthday in a
restaurant. We phoned the restaurant and reserved a table in advance. It
wasn’t a posh restaurant, but but was quite elegant. The staff was nice and the
service was OK. We were all satisfied with the meal. At the end of the dinner
we asked for the bill and gave a tip to the waiter.
There are several types of restaurants: first-, second-, and third-class
restaurants, self-service restaurants and open-air restaurants.
We don’t often go to fast food chains because the food they sell is not healthy
and we don’t love it that much. The most famous fast-food chains are KFC,
McDonalds, and Burger King. Fast-food restaurants are harmful for our health,
as they sell junk food. Junk food means empty calories, plenty of fat and no
nutrients. Most people go to these restaurants because of the specific taste of
their food and the discounts they can get.

Food ordering by phone: Ordering food is often helpful and it has plenty of
pros: firstly, we can save a lot of time because there’s no need to cook or bake.
What we only need to do is place an order and wait. Secondly, the choice of
dishes is also wide and most of the time home delivery is free of charge. We
sometimes order pizza from a pizzeria. Thirdly, it’s also very practical because
we can pay on delivery in cash or by credit card. We prefer to pay by credit
card.
