PART 1 – Writing Topic Sentence Practice.

Write a good topic sentence for the following paragraphs.

1. _________. First and most importantly, the work is very interesting. I learn new things every day
and I get to travel a lot. Sometimes, I even get the opportunity to travel to Europe. In addition, my
boss is very nice. She is always willing to help me whenever I have a problem. I have also made many
new friends at my job. Last but not least, the salary is fantastic.

=> In my opinion, tour guide is an promissing industry in modern society for several reasons.

2. _________. First of all, we need money to repair old roads and build new roads. We also need
more to pay teachers’ salaries and to pay for services such as trash collection. Finally, more tax
money is needed to give financial help to the poor citizens of the city. It is clear that the city will have
serious problems if taxes are not raised soon.

=> Nowadays, raising taxes is the most necessary policy which need to be implemented rapidly since
it related to the development of society in many field.

3. _________. One thing you must consider is the quality of the university’s educational course that
you want to take. You also need to think about the school’s size and location. If you are not
comfortable commuting long distance every day, explore universities in your home town or in the
next town. Finally, you must be sure to consider the university’s tuition to make sure you can afford
to go to school there.

=> Choosing a university is always a big concern for each individual, there are a few things that needs
to be noted and considered in order to decide which university is suitable for each person’s
conditions and abilities.

Part 2 – Write a Paragraph.

Write a short paragraph (about 150 words) for the topic:

What is more important, happiness or money?

Write a good topic sentence that answers the question, then explain your main idea with
supporting details and examples.

NB Use at least 5 words learned in this week’s session to gain bonuses.

Happiness and money, both are an important role in human’life. However, there is a question that
what is more important, happiness or money?. I think, different people will have different answer
and for me, money is more important than happiness. Firts of all, happiness is the biggest driving
force for us to live, not money. The finnal purpose that people make money is that they can live a
happy life. In fact, happiness doesn’t need too much money. For example, playing with their friend,
travelling with the people they love and have a healthy body would also them happy. Happiness is
very easy and every person finds happiness in different things. Money provides power and make you
live a better life, but it doesn’t mean make you live a happy life.
