1. (a) Mangoes are to be exactly divided into groups of 20, 40 or 60.
What is the minimum number of mangoes required?
(b) The population of three towns are 65,600, 13,400 and
29,700. Approximate the total population of the three
towns to the nearest thousands.

2. (a) Jackeline spent 3⁄8 of her salary on transport and 3⁄4on


food. If she remained with sh 160,000, what was her salary?
b) Change into:
(i) Percentage
(ii) Decimal.

3. (a) A machine that costs sh. 1,500,000 was sold at a profit of


20%. Find the selling price.
(b) A father divided sh. 6,000,000 among Jesca and Japheth in
the ratio 4:6 respectively. How much money did each get?d this

4. (a) Use the following figure to find the value x

(b) The perimeter of triangle ABC is 16 cm . If AB = (10 + x ) cm,


AC = (4 + x ) cm and BC = 10 cm, find the value of x and
hence the actual lengths of AB and AC .

5. (a) Solve by using the elimination method

2x − y = 5
(b) Find two consecutive even numbers such that the sum of
their squares is equal to 100.

6. (a) If the gradient of the straight line ky = kx + x + 7 is 2, find:


(i) the value of k ,
(ii) the y -intercept.

8. (a). ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB and AC are equal. If D


is the midpoint of BC .
(i) Prove that ABD  ACD .

(b) If ΔABC ~ ΔPQR and AC = 40 cm, PR = 20 cm, QR = 24 cm and


PQ = 18 cm, find the lengths of AB and BC .

9. (a) From the top of a cliff, that is 380M above the sea level, the
angle of depression of a boat is 26˚. Find the distance
of the boat from the top of the cliff.
(b) Find the value of each of the following expressions and
simplify the answer.
(i) sin 30 °(cos 0° + sin 30°),
(ii) tan 45 °(4cos 30° − √3 tan 45°).

10. (a) In a class of 45 students, 27 study commercial subjects,


20 study both commercial and science subjects and 8 students
study science subjects only. Use a Venn diagram to find the
number of students who study:
(i) Either science or commercial subjects.

(iii) Commercial subjects only.
(iv) Science subjects.
(b) The score of a mathematical test done by 50 form two
students in a certain school are as shown in the table below:-
