For every sin on Him was laid  Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! 
Here in the death of Christ I live.  That calls me from a world of care, 
3. There in the ground His body lay,  And bids me at my Father’s throne 
Light of the world by darkness slain:  Make all my wants and wishes known. 
Then bursting forth in glorious day  In seasons of distress and grief, 
Up from the grave He rose again  My soul has often found relief, 
And as He stands in victory  And oft escaped the tempter’s snare, 
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,  By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!  
For I am His and He is mine
