The Brief:

Develop music technology skills by completing the following industry-

related tasks, reflecting on industry practices, applying new skills and
implementing current theories.

Task 1 – Song Reworks

Task 2 – Dialogue, Soundtracks and Soundscapes

Task 3 – Advertisement Music

These tasks put you in the scenario of working for a music

production company, where jobs and projects will vary and
require both solo and team effort.

Task 1: Song Reworks

You must recreate two songs, one individually and one as a team.
Analyse the musical structure, instrumentation and production techniques
of both songs and others in their genre.

Choose the song to recreate. The song you must recreate on your own must
be a close replica of the original and using only software instruments (vocals
are not essential).
Decide within your group what song you will recreate. The song for the group
project should be reworked into a new genre using software instruments,
audio tracks, and samples where appropriate. This allows you to be creative
and imaginative with both how the song is arranged and the final mix.
Evidence: Audio files; evidence of context, planning and song analysis;
critical evaluations.

compositions, sound effects, and voice recordings.
The finished Audio book should be no shorter than 5 minutes and no longer
than 10 minutes in length.
Evidence: Finished bounced Audio Book (mp3); weekly group evaluations
(mp3s); a presentation of your research, planning and problem solving.

Task 3 – Advertisement Music

You have been asked to submit a song for a television advert.

Your group will be given a video file of a television advert. You must either
choose an existing song to re-imagine and record in an alternative and
appropriate style. Or it create an original composition, however it should
include lyrics. Aim for it to be produced to a high standard.
Evidence: Completed advert with accompanying composition, mixed and
bounced to .mov file.
A presentation of: your understanding of context; the planning; problem
