Course Title: Documentation & Logistics for International Trade

Course Objectives: Trade procedures and documentation formalities are a critical part
of international business management. This subject aims at imparting knowledge of
trade procedures and documentation formalities with a view to enable the participants to
develop a systematic approach in handling trade transaction and incidental paperwork
(export and import documentation).

Prerequisites:

The student opting for this course should have successfully completed basic course
in management & international business. The student is expected to combine the
learning across specialization courses including IB & Management.

Course Learning Outcomes:


Upon successfully completing this course students should be able to:
 Understanding and identifying the various documents used for processing export
and import orders.
 Identifying and evaluating the regulatory regulations in the area of exports and
imports.
 Assessing and creating better understanding on the various terms and conditions
of export finance.
 Appraise and assess logistic requirement for international trade and evaluating
the best mode of transport as per the product and the destination- country.
 Analyze and understand the international trade of India’s.
Pedagogy for Course Delivery:
This class will be taught using a mix of theory and the case method. In addition to
assigning the case studies, the course instructor will spend considerable time
Students are required to do practical project with export houses to understand the concept
of FTP, its impact, its framework, documentation, logistics and analysis.

List of Professional Skill Development Activities (PSDA):

A Commodity will be assigned to group of students for which they are required to:
1. Identify an Export House or Buying House of that commodity and study their
export/ import procedure along with documentation. (Project)
2. Identify concerned government organization like export promotion council
(EPCs) and the initiatives taken by them to promote or support exports/
imports. (Presentation)
3. Analyze trends in imports/ exports, major markets for these commodities,
problems and challenges faced by the importers/ exporters and latest foreign
trade policy rules and regulations pertaining to it and using appropriate tool
to analyze the trade data collected. (Home assignment)
