Although Great Britain was once in control of the United States, the United States is
different from both Great Britain and other countries because it has people from all over the
world with differing forms of government, language, and religion.
There are different forms of government in the United States than many other countries.
Great britain the founder of the british colonies of america had a monarchy. They were led by
the rule of kings and queens along with many other countries in europe. Thomas Paine, an
intellectual who was influential in the forming of the United States, wanted democracy so the
government still had some controle but the people also shared in ruling and keeping the country
afloat. This is different from dictatorship because again only one person or one group of people
has all the power. This is also different from socialism that can be seen around the world
because everyone is not equal but with what pain proposes there could be an equal and just
government. Democracy is still very prominent in the United States today because people elect
representatives to vote for them and hold their values.
People who come to the United States speak a variety of different languages. When the
United States was being formed people from many different places settled. They spoke a variety
of languages from french and english to dutch and german. This trend has continued even with
an english majority. More recently there has been a rise in spanish speaking individuals in the
united states because of immigration. Many languages are spoken in the United States that
have originated from both other and vastly different countries. Overall many of these people are
able to live together in harmony in the United states.
The people who live in the United States follow different religions. In the beginning of the
United States there were different religions. Migrating to the United States area started in part
for religious freedom. The prodestant separatists wanted to be free to worship how they liked.
Also settling the future United States were members of the roman catholic church. People
continue to migrate to the United States and are free to practice religion as they like as long as
id doesn't go against the views of the country as a whole. Over the years many places for
worship have been constructed in the United States among them include temples, churches,
synagogues, and mosques. This is the same as the passage in Rights of Man because it shows
that his ideals of having multiple groups coexist are still being held in the United States today.
Although much of what Thomas Paine wrote in Rights of Man some of his ideals are no
longer held in the United statesas what was desired by paine. One of these ideals includes their
being nothing to incite riots. In the year 2020 specifically people chose to riot against the
government and the treatment of some of its citizens.
In conclusion Thomas Paine's book the rights of man were overall more similar to
today's values that dissimilar because the United States because it has people from all over the
world with differing forms of government, language, and religion.
