Chapter 1 Before You Begin

Who Should Use This Guide

This guide is intended for IntelliPost2000 postprocessor designers and developers who have a
good understanding of their particular machine tool(s).
How This Guide Is Organized
The IntelliPost2000 User Guide is organized by IntelliPost2000 functional groupings. Each
chapter discusses a group of related functions that you will normally perform in creating a
postprocessor. Since IntelliPost2000 itself is organized in an intuitive, sequential manner, the
guide mirrors, more or less, the overall process of postprocessor creation.
The following table provides an “information map” to the material in this guide.

Manual Conventions
IntelliPost2000 Samples
Window samples, shown throughout the guide, provide a point of reference. The field data
shown are provided as samples only and may or may not match what you’ll see on your
screen. In the text, window names, field titles, and system messages are shown as they appear
in the application.

Selecting Functions
The following convention is used to instruct the user to select a function.

Main | selection1 | selection2

For example, the following sequence tells the user to open the Postprocessor function from
the main menu, then select the Specifications function, then select Axis Limits from the
Specifications menu.

Postprocessor | Specifications | Axis Limits

Procedures
Procedures that should be followed in order are shown in a step-by-step format with each
step representing an action you are to perform. If appropriate, the result(s) of the action is
included on the next line of that step. For example:
1. Select Postprocessor | Specifications | Axis Limits.
The Axis Limits window displays.
2. Open the X-Axis folder.

Notes
Additional pertinent information is shown with a flag, as in:

2 This is an example of a note.
