The World of Business

Introduction

Business graduates are in high demand worldwide, business touches on pretty

much every aspect of modern human society, careers with a business degree are
diverse and often highly paid and these assumptions are likely to be largely true.

The business world fuels our economy. The flow of markets and different
industries has created technological innovations that allow us to live certain lifestyles.

A business is an organizational entity and legal entity made up of an association

of people, be they natural, legal, or a mixture of both who share a common purpose and
unite in order to focus their various talents and organize their collectively available skills
or resources to achieve specific declared goals and are involved in the provision of
goods and services to consumers.

Business education provides a bunch of skills that can be used in a multiple

areas. Social interaction skills, planning skills, proficient management of finances and
the capability to be a leader are characteristics students might profit from in the field of
business.

In the business world, are you more of a businessman or an entrepreneur? Have

you ever wondered what are the differences between the two?

Discussion

The terms, businessman and entrepreneur, are often interchanged in use today.
Anyone who owns a business and makes money is often referred by any of these
names. But the important difference between the two is how one will start and
eventually run their business.

A businessman enters into existing businesses, such as franchising and retailing.

He chooses a hot and profitable business idea regardless of whether it is his original
idea or borrowed from someone else. An entrepreneur is an inventor and the first
creator of a product. He invests time, energy and money on his own idea. He doesn’t
start a business from an unoriginal idea.

Most businessmen are doing business for profit, livelihood, for reaching their
financial goals, and for becoming their own boss. Entrepreneurs are more concerned on
changing the world. They want to pursue their passion and achieve an ultimate goal.
They are not keen on financial returns, rather they are focused on what they can offer to
the world.

A business owner is an employer and a manager. He hires employees and

workers to help his business grow. An entrepreneur is a friend and a leader. He finds
peers and people, whom he will never treat as machines. He invites them to help them
grow.

A business owner usually sees customers as his source of sales and revenues.
For him, customers are the lifeblood of his business. An entrepreneur sees customers
as his source of duty and fulfillment. For him, customers are his own life blood.

A businessman defines success as the success of his business and its

stakeholders. Its stakeholders include himself, co-owners, employees, customers,
investors, and even his community. An entrepreneur doesn’t define success. He simply
do his job and let history defines the success that he accomplished.

Conclusion

A businessman is a businessman but an entrepreneur is an entrepreneur

(Surbhi, 2015). Both of them have goals that are used to help their business grow and
achieve its objectives. Those goals can be used to foster teamwork and help the
business describe what it wants to accomplish. Their purpose is to provide jobs for the
unemployed, to give solutions to the consumers, and to help in developing the economy
of a certain nation.

If I were to choose between the two, it would be an entrepreneur because I am

willing to take the risk to develop and operate a business for profit or a non-profit
organization to serve the needs of people. For mw, taking a risk is a great opportunity to
stand out and to present yourself as a leader, not a follower.
