Module 4 in Mathematics in the Modern World BSED SCIENCE 1ST YEAR

Exercise1.Using the Venn Diagram, compare and contrasting deductive and deductive reasoning.

Exercise2.Inductive Reasoning (After guessing the next sequence make a conclusion/conjecture and
explain).

1. Bi is the answer because there's a pattern which is the 4,6,8,8,6,4 and that is only based on
0 logical thinking.

2. FistheanswerbecauseitwillfirstformanXbeforeitformsadislocateX.

3. B is the answer because by just seeing the first three pattern shown in the Diagram, the second
0 box, the dot comes to the middle first before it goes to the other side of the square.

4. A is the answer because it shows a pattern, for example in the square shape it only contain three
dots, therefore we will focus more on the sides of each shape and then about the dot you will just
deduct one(1) to the number of sides of shape then that is already the number of dots to be put
in each shape. So,the answer is triangle consisting of 3 sides and 2 dots in it, becaus3-1= 2.

5. The first sequence the answer is18 because it has a pattern which is you will simply add 3 in
each number, for example 3+3=6 then 6+3=9 and so on.The second sequence the answer is 21
because it also shows a pattern which are the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. The pattern given, you will just
simply add it add in each number. For example 1+2=3, 0
3+3=6,6+4=10sothe2,3,4,etc.arethepattern.

Exercise 3. Determine types of Reasoning

1. The statement shows an inductive reasoning because it arrived a conclusion that only focuses
with a set of observations without showing any pro of. Meaning, the conclusion only comes
from THE LOGICALTHINKING.

2. The statement shows a deductive reasoning because the statement shows a person that arrived a
conclusion based on a previous factual information.

Exercise 4. Find the common difference of each pair of consecutive numbers.

Exercise5.Given the first term and the common difference of an arithmetic sequence find
the first five terms and the explicit formula.

1 and 2
3. And4
Exercise 6. Find the nth term in the following arithmetic sequence.
