Tutorial Sheet No.3

1. An emitter biased dual input, balanced output differential amplifier has the following
specification:
|VCC| = |-VEE| = 10 V, RC1 = RC2 = 5.6 K, RE = 3.9 K,  = 100, VBE = 0.715 V.
Calculate
a) The operating current and voltage values for each transistor,
b) The voltage gain,
c) The input resistance of the circuit

2. For the circuit shown in Fig.1, determine the emitter current in transistor Q3. Given that
 = 100, VBE = 0.715 V.

3. For the Wilson current source of Fig.2, what are values of Iref and ICQ2? Also calculate
the output resistance if Vcc= 15V, R= 12 kΩ, VA= 100V, VT = 25mV,  =100, VBE =
0.7V.

4. An integrated circuit requires several different values of current sources. Determine the
values of the resistances in the circuit shown in Fig.3. Also determine the R TH(s) for
each of the current sources shown when I2=20 μA, I3=0.4 mA, I4= 5 μA, I4= 2 mA. Use
Vcc= 20V, VA= 80V, VBE=0.7 V, VT = 25 mV and β = 200.

and common mode voltage gains for the first stage is 100 and -0.5 respectively. For the
transistor Q3, β=100, RC= 10 kΩ, R=5 kΩ and RE= 200Ω.
6. For the circuit shown in Fig.5, it is given that  = 100, VBE = 0.715 V. Determine
a) The dc conditions for each stage,
