I have graduated in April 2019 from the

department of Mechanical Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Now I am considering applying for the Master’s program of Vanderbilt University and I am highly
interested to work with you in the “Medical Engineering and discovery Lab”. MED Lab caught my
attention immediately as I believe with the growth in complexity of surgeries surgical robots will play a
pivotal role in the upcoming future to increase precision and effectiveness while being less invasive. By
going through your work on Steerable surgical needle, I have been very much intrigued by how the cross
section and material of the flex joint plays a vital role. Recently I have noticed that you are working on
ventilators for COVID-19 patients, and taking into account that some works of MED has translated into
successful startups, made me in fact more interested to work in this lab, as in my country, there is very
little progress on technological handling for the cure of COVID-19 patients.
