1. Some important facts about the disease: COVID-19

1.1 Don’t play around with this disease – it’s not the normal seasonal influenza. Seasonal influenza starts with running
nose and cough then fever, and then people usually recover. COVID-19 starts with dry cough/fever and then can
suddenly transgress into Pneumonia. Doctors and Scientists are not crazy to make hype out of this disease – this is
serious.

1.2 This disease can spread asymptomatically. In other words the virus starts spreading before an infected person
develops recognizable symtoms. Moreover it has been observed that some infected people (COVID-19 cariers)
develop only mild symptoms depending how strong his/her immune system is. So don’t take chances of inviting
people over for dinner or party or physically socializing at close disctance (hugging/kissing etc.) even if the other
person shows no or very little symptoms.

1.3 Please please please don't go out for walks and party around. Please don't take things lightly. I know it’s difficult to
stay indoors but that's the only way. Once a week (or better once in 15 days) people can go out to do shopping for
essential things but with gloves + mask + thin jacket + protective goggles. Must spray disinfectant on all of the PPE
after returning home. Please understand: more people go out more they expose themselves to the risk of contracting
the disease. This disease is highly infectious and can have exponential growth (33% per day rise in number of cases if
unchecked).

th
1.4 As of 15 April - the mortality rate (death rate) was 3.1% in China even with very stringent measures of quarantine.
It’s over 12% in Italy and 10% in Spain and 4.8% in USA (do the math). In some countries it is lower than 3%. My best
guess - it depends on the medical facilities available and how the public is reacting to quarantine. India may be over
doing it a bit by using Police 'Lathi pitai' (butt spanking) to make people understand that 'Quarantine' means staying
at home.

1.5 Maintain physical distancing to any stranger by 1-2 meters. Strictly avoid meeting people physically (in your house or
going out for socializing). Do the socializing using phone /social apps (like WhatsApp, WeChat, Instagram, Snapchat or
Facebook etc.).

1.6 The virus can stay in the air as aerosol for 2-3 hours (so you can get infected even walking on a seemingly empty
street - while 1 hour ago someone might have sneezed on the way and left). It can stay on surfaces for 2-3 hours
and on metal surfaces more than 9 hours (you might sit on a bench or sofa which seems to be clean or empty but
an infected person might have coughed or sneezed left). The dangerous thing is, people think protecting their face
and hand is enough. It is essential but not enough. For example when I used to comeback I used to spray all my PPE -
my cap, jacket and jeans with alcohol to make sure its disinfected.

1.7 If people go out and move around in public places - this isn’t gonna stop. Countries that do not follow this - is in for a
very rough ride.
