Description
Operators have reported difficulty to order the locking pin for rudder trim actuator.

Solution
Locking pin definition
As per equipment definition, the locking pin or spindle is a sub-component of the rudder trim actuator
(RTA).
The locking pin P/N 6137-013 is to the one for RTA 6137-3.
The locking pin P/N 6137-060 is to the one for RTA 6137-4 and RTA 6137-5.
When the operator orders a rudder trim actuator, this locking pin (or spindle) is delivered with the
actuator and should be located inside the rigging hole of the RTA.

We may thus advise to check if the spindle is not available on the replacement RTA itself
(rigging hole) or on any other RTA of same P/N.
If not available, the part must be ordered to SAGEM.
Locking pin interchangeability
The above mentioned locking pins are not interchangeable because they have not the same
dimensions.

Locking pin storage

After having installed the RTA on aircraft, the locking pin must be removed from the rigging hole and
stored by the operator as per GSE storage basic procedure.
There is no storage hole on the RTA to store the locking pin.

A blanking plug (item 35 on fig 1A of RTA CMM 6137-*) must be installed in the rigging hole once the
locking pin has been removed, in order to ensure the water-tightness of the RTA.
This blanking mug exists on each RTA P/N. It is stored into a storage hole on the RTA itself and is
attached to the actuator thanks to a chain.

Any alternative procedure for RTA installation on aircraft if the locking pin in not available ?
No accurate procedure could be proposed to properly install the RTA on aircraft.
To make sure the RTA is in in its (mechanical) neutral position, the operator must check both things:
- The locking pin is inserted inside the rigging hole
- The red index is visible into the glass window of the RTA
Indeed,
- The locking pin give a neutral position modulo 2Pi
- The red index only gives an approximate neutral position.

Combining both information aims at defining an accurate neutral position of the RTA.

Please note that any shift of the RTA neutral position can then induce a shift of the rudder mechanical
control (the AFU may be unduly compressed to compensate the incorrect RTA zero position while
permitting to insert the locking pin inside the AFU mixer)

NOTE: PN 6137-4 or 6137-5 have one hole (rigging hole) and PN 6137-3 has 2 holes (storage hole
and rigging hole)
