Valve Design Engineer

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

We currently have an exciting opportunity available in our Long Island City, NY location for
an individual to utilize their expertise in valve design and experience with fluid mechanics and
thermodynamics to design/develop automotive valve products.

Responsibilities will include:

• researching/developing product requirements, including function, life expectancy,

environmental operating conditions and vehicle interfaces
• providing design engineering support for existing product lines
• establishing conceptual component and assembled product design
• developing designs for ease of assembly
• managing projects from start to completion
• completing Bill of Materials
• selecting materials that meet functional and cost constraints
• evaluating pre-production subassemblies and final assemblies
• resolving quality or assembly issues
• participating in pilot production runs
• evaluating and testing piloted units
• handling other related functions as necessary
REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related
discipline, 5+ years experience designing valves/actuators for low to medium volume
manufacture, and demonstrated ability to bring products from design to market. Experience
in the application of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics to valve design will also be
expected, as will experience with valve designs that are powered by vacuum, DC current
and PWM sources. Solid modeling and detail design skills with 3D CAD programs such as
Solidworks, along with superior analytical, interpersonal, oral/written communication and
leadership skills are required. Understanding of automobile power train, fuel and emission
systems preferred.
