 Have you ever wondered how our electronic/digital age came to be? Have you though
about how the impossible and incomprehensible computers nowadays have been used to fit our
needs and wants? For so long, computers has been our tools in our daily living activities.
Computers had made our lives so leisurely that we are now dependent to this technology. In
this paper we are going to talk about the all-around machine, a computer. A computer can be
used to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically via computer
programming. It is a device that performs processes, calculations and operations based on
instructions provided by a software or hardware program.

I can see that in today’s world, we would be having a hard time without the existence of
computers. The fact that human mind thought processes takes time that if it is compared to a
normal computer, it is very slow. In my opinion, using computers allows us to be free from
repetitive tasks and solves our problems. I myself see many advantages and disadvantages of
computers making our lives too easy. The simple task of saving the list for grocery in your
phone and setting an alarm in your phone to wake you in the morning to prepare for school are
some things that makes computers useful to us. The way a computer is programmed to allow
us to provide input for it create a database that allows us to communicate real time, an
example of these is our social media. Disadvantages of computers have been apparent
throughout the years. We can see that people had become lazier and more reliant to
computers, making their bodies suffer from it. Most of the things automatic today are ran by
computers and has no need of physical movement to execute things that needs it before.
Today, there are land mower, mobile vacuum, robots, and many more that are automated that
are used to prevent us from doing physical labor, increasing the size of our bellies and amount
of fats in our bodies due to lack of physical activity.

With computers, comes the world wide web and internet that made communication
become easier. Setting an unlimited network free for all to access to people. With this we can
talk to anyone, anywhere in real time. The developing world really needed this to progress
smoothly with the fast track globalization. This efficiency allowed us to connect with people and
in turn meet with people with malicious intent. Several individuals use these platforms to trick
and extort people for goods such as money. With the broadness and an untraceable aspect of
the internet, people like this roam free doing things like these.
 In the rising issues of super computers running artificial intelligence and developing it
for independence. I can foresee that computers may surpass humans and become independent
of human control someday and in my opinion this can have many detrimental effects on
humanity. Have you ever seen terminator? The concept of the movie does not seem so far
flung if you think about it. There must come a time when a human mind so brilliant that it
would create a self-sufficient artificial intelligence that it would not need a human to operate or
require input from it. Having a million times faster in processesing information, the moment it
realizes that we are a threat to it, we would immediately be eliminated and we cannot do
anything because the moment we had a solution they would immediately device a counter for
it. That is why, for me, computers should not be granted the freedom of operating itself.

Yes, computers can be used at our advantage but there are repercussion if used
incorrectly and irresponsibly. Developing these may be our greatest legacy to future
generations for it can make our lives and theirs more efficient and sufficient. Nevertheless,
without computers life in the modern society would deem unlivable. `
