BUYOGAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

NARRATIVE REPORT ON
SOFT OPENING OF CLASSES
S. Y. 2020-2021

The Department of Education (DepEd) is bracing for an “extraordinarily challenging

school year” due to the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
As we face unprecedented time, DepEd still firmed that education must continue.

Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones announced the opening of

classes for the school year 2020-2021 is moved to October 5 from its original schedule of
August 24 as per the memorandum, the President has given approval to the
recommendation of DepEd. Thus, we will implement such a decision to defer school
opening to October 5 under Republic Act No. 11480. We shall use the deferment to
provide relief to the logistical limitations faced by the areas placed under MECQ and to
fill in the remaining gaps of the school opening that we are currently addressing.

The Department of Education (DepEd) said it is ready for the scheduled opening of
classes on Monday, October 5, despite problems and other issues it is facing regarding its
preparation.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this school year 2020-2021 will use a combination
of methods, from online classes and printed learning modules to use of TV and radio.
Teachers were already prepared for the opening of the school year 2020 to 2021 under
the "new normal" setup as they were trained to handle different modalities such as online
distance learning.

On October 1, 2020, at exactly 8:00 a.m., Buyogan Elementary School teaching

staff kicked off the soft opening of classes with a theme “HANDANG ISIP, HANDA BUKAS”
by welcoming parents and stakeholders following health protocol such as social distancing,
wearing of face mask, etc to school premises. It was shown that the parents were excited
and looking forward to the best interest of the school.

The day started with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine
National Anthem led by Ms. Elwyn A. Ansalan. Afterward, MRS. JOSEPHINE E. DAHIPON,
Head Teacher II gave her a welcome message as well as reminders, rules, and policies of
the school. Thereafter, MR. MARK GEL O. TULIO, presented the school Profile
( demographic, modalities, and enrollment) of the school.
Therein, MRS. RAQUEL C. BATBATAN, DRRM Coordinators update parents on
Psychosocial Support and Mental Health Awareness preparation. It was observed that
parents gain more understanding and ability to cope with the present situation that we
are all facing today.

Moreover, Brgy. Captain HON. HECTOR D.VILLAMOR gave updates on LGU

Collaboration and Partnership. He also reiterated the importance of following health
protocols to avoid being compromise with the virus.

Furthermore, the releasing of modules by grade level was conducted successfully.

Instructions was given to them as to when the modules will be retrieve from them.

Nevertheless, it was a great day for all.
