Self-portrait of

myself as…

1. Create 3 digital self-portraits that are either recognizable or abstract.

• Images can each be an individual exploration of the media, or can be
apart of a consecutive series.

2. Search the web or import photos of yourself or objects that represent you.
• Save all images in a folder, entitled "Self-portrait"
• Images should be larger than 150dpi

3. In your journal, think and write about the qualities, traits or characteristics
you embody and objects that could represent you.
Questions to think about:
• How can I express my many different sides?
• How can I reinvent myself for various purposes or times in my life?
• How am I changing from day to day or year to year?
• Who do I want to become?

4. Create a new Photoshop document. Save as "your name" in your "Self-

portrait" folder.
• Your documents can be any size, and may be horizontal or vertical.
• As you are making 3 final images for this assignment, number the files
in order of sequence.
5. For each self-portrait, import the files into one document.
• Utilize the selection tools, Photoshop filters, layer properties, color
adjustments tool (hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, levels, etc.)
• Text is optional and is considered a layer.

5. Use the checklist below to double-check your work. Print out in color,
mount it and turn it in for critique.
• When you are done have teacher check your work BEFORE you print it
out.
