Read all these recommendations

carefully to make the best

of your scene.
1. All scenes are modified according to the number of students. There are
some extra scenes that can be included or not, depending on the number of
members in each group.
2. Read everything very well, specially punctuation and the words in brackets
or parenthesis to follow some indications. These indications along with
punctuation will make your scene look better.
Example: ( [He goes to the kitchen, crying]. / [Maria is sitting down waiting for
instructions] / BOB. Hi my name is Bob, nice to meet you.)
3.Whenever you have any problems to understand the scripts, or any word
please follow these steps:
a. Highlight the word with a marker or a pen. Then look it up on the
recommended tools from the webpage or in a physical dictionary.
b. Ask your teacher about any word you do not understand.
c. Avoid translating expressions and words, this is not a good way for learning
and understanding your lines.
d. Focus on pronunciation, comprehension and fluency. Work in both ways
individually and in group, this will help you succeed and enjoy even more your
projects.

SCENE 4. KATYE BRICE
A SMALL TOWN DOC gets in with KATYE BRICE (a patient) having a violent seizure.

BAILEY
What’ve we got?

SMALL TOWN DOCTOR

Katye Brice: 15 year old female with new-onset seizures, intermittent for the past week. She lost
consciousness and has no reaction to stimulus.
We tried everything to control the seizure while we were getting here, but it didn’t work, I’m afraid she
needs a really special treatment.

BAILEY
Get her ready, guys.
(The interns put Katye in the center of the room. She begins to seize again.)

BAILEY
Get her on her side. Izzy get her 10mg shot ready.
(George, Meredith and Cristina put Katye on her right. Bailey watches)

BAILEY
NO, NO! The white lead is on the right – Rightey Whitey, smoke over fire!
(Meredith turns Katye on her left. Izzie prepares a Syringe. George lays out the tools to start the IV.)

BAILEY
HEY¡ Don’t let the blood hemolyze, Let’s go with the shot Izzie
(Katie sleeps sedated. PRESTON BURKE, an arrogant showdog who loves the show enters.)

BURKE
Heard we had a wet fish on dry land. What are you and your new ones doing about it? Any significant
outcome? My dear interns?...
(Bailey hands him the chart!, he reads it over.)

BAILEY
Absolutely Dr. Burke.

BURKE
Dr. Bailey, let’s shotgun her, I recommend the diazepam will be in a stage good enough to those 10
mg. Remember the blood pressure, the seizing had better not repeat again to this little and pretty girl,
ok?
(He strides out. Bailey turns to the interns.)

BAILEY
Cristina, you’re on labs. George, patient work ups. Meredith, get Katie down for a CT. She’s your
responsibility now.

this would be like this. I wanna keep modeling mom
(cries).
(Mom answers but it is not audible for the audience)
Ok mom, I’ll wait for you, come and pick me up urgently, please.

(Dr Richard is in an outside room with the patients of the rectal exams, and in an off voice calls Izzie
