Volume of H2So4 used 20cm3
Required:
i). mole of NaoH

from: Molarity = No of moles

Volume (L) (1/2 marks)

0.1 = X

X = 2.5 x 10-3 Moles of NaoH (1.5 marks)

ii). Mass of Na2So4 produced.

From chemical equation theoretically

2 moles of NaoH 1 mole of Na2So4

2.5 x 10-3 X?
-3
X = 2.5 x10
2
-3
= 1.25 x10 mole of Na2So4 produced. (1 marks)
Then. 1 mole of Na2So4 =142g
1.25 x 10-3 =? X
X=142 x 1.25 x 10-3 =0.1775g of Na2SO4 Produced (2 marks)

Given
Heat value of petrol =43640kj/kg
Mass of petrol =40.0 kg
Volume of water = 5litre
Cw 4.18kj/kg/k
Required temperature change Q
Solution
Total heat released =43640 x40 =1745600
Mass of water =density of water x volume of water
=1g/cm3 x50000CM3 =5000g=5kg
Heat released from petrol =heat gained by water
1745600 =Mw xCw x Q

1745600 =5x4.18x Q

Q=8.352 x 104K
Change in temperature = 8.352 x 104K
