Human Flourishing and Dangers of

Technology
1. Why should science be guided by an ethical basis that is not dictated by science itself?
The language “ethics” comes from the Greek language “ethos”, meaning pattern or
behaviour. This idea of ethics was originally suggested by the Greek philosopher Aristotle for
this communication of philosophical question pertaining to everyday living: This “ethike
theoria”deals with this learning of, furthermore, gives standards for the assessment of human
conduct. From that point forward, morals has gotten one of the main issues in Western way of
thinking while thinking about social and individual convictions, their connection and their
association in the public.
Discipline itself will stand only without ehics because science should be the actual
foundation behind arguments in ethics, and if ethics are mixed in with this discipline from the
beginning, We could have no foundation for discussion of this ethics. And , if this seemed overly
circular belief based on reality. As i was believe no human work can be isolated from morals in
expansive setting. But, Evidently particularities happen. Despite these then called universality of
discipline.
2. Based on what you have learned in the documentary film, how does scientism pose a threat
to the human flourishing in science and technology?
Most contemporary people have the advantages that cutting edge science has brought
us: Disease control, transport also, correspondence supernatural occurrences, space travel,
extraordinary property creation, individual management accommodations of different kinds. It
has moreover created the huge accommodations of different kinds. It has moreover humanity’s
wonder immensely. The structure of logical diaries is extensive and stunning. Would our
previous precursors ever have thought that their arrow’s Could get the moon? There have
been more revelations and and innovations in the 20th century in all of past history combined;
in the great sense, we exist at the era of science. The extraordinary development of
technological and technology knowledge and the development in our technical ability have
made much to help us change as the species, to make life simpler and better.
Our sparkling time of technologism is in like manner the sparkling time of scientism.
Scientism is not the one situation as study. Science is a prayer, but scientism is the curse. Order,
I think what rehearsing researchers truly do, is intensely and honorably aware of its
impediments, and submissively recognizes to the speculative element of its choices; however
scientism is fanatical, and hawks surenesses. It is usually in this ready with this answer to every
problem, because it thinks that the answer to every problem is the technological one, and then
it makes scientific answers to non-scientific questions. It is the philosophical, which is to say,
the philosophy.

3. How do you think will overconsumption endanger the planet and society? Provide two
specific and realistic answers.
Human and planet
Mostly, this discourse of overconsumption parallels that of cause population; this is the
more people, the more demand of raw materials takes place to maintain their lives. But,
world's total influence on the planet is impacted by some factors besides the natural amount of
people. Their style (including total wealth and resource usage) and the pollution they create
(including carbon footprint) are as important. Presently, the inhabitants of the industrial
countries of the globe consume resources at the pace nearly 32 times higher than those of the
developing world, who comprise the number of the human population (7.4 billion people) .
Development
For some years, the blame has been placed on developed nations for largely being
accountable at damaging this planet and getting climate change, and rightly then, with their
past and current carbon emissions. It is no other with overconsumption — people in industrial
nations eat more and get bigger carbon footprint than people in growing and least developed
nations. In the one report mentioned earlier, researched discovered that “ consumerism was
much higher in wealthy nations than in poor nations, And that those with the highest charges of
consumerism took up to 5.5 times this environmental effect as the earth average. ” and
according to the study by Christian assistance, “ 20 percent of the world’s population
responsible for about 80 percent of expenditure of international resources, and this world is
consuming 50% more than is environmentally sustainable. ”
