1. Eat healthy. Remember those food groups? Try to get your recommenced daily
allowances each day. Our bodies need these foods for a reason. Each food
group nourishes our body in a different way. When our body is fully nourished
we feel good. People concentrate and learn much better when they eat a well
balanced diet. Memory even functions better. Remember to eat right!
2. Our bodies need more than food to stay healthy. We also need fluids. Think
hydration. When our bodies get dehydrate we begin to experience physical
symptoms. Severe dehydration can be fatal. Mild dehydration can cause mood
swings and irritability, not to mention a thirsty feeling. Did you know that by
the time you feel thirsty you are already low on fluids? Thirst is our bodies way
of telling us that it needs more fluids. Adults need to drink at least eight 8
ounce glasses of fluid per day. Remember, soda doesn’t count as a fluid
because brinks containing caffeine can actually dehydrate us!
3. Take a multivitamin. Why? Because. Our bodies need both vitamins and
minerals to maintain good health. Very few people get the daily
recommendations for vitamins and minerals by eating alone. A multivitamin
contains these essential vitamins and minerals that we don’t get from the
foods we eat.
4. Stay active. Exercise. Sitting around all day is not going to keep anyone
healthy. Getting out in the fresh air will. Soaking up the sun while going for a
walk will keep you healthy too. Our muscles need to be used in order to stay
healthy. When people are not active enough they will begin to notice
symptoms such as weakness, and aches and pains.
HEALTH TIPS
The prime concern of a person should be in sound body and mind. Health and fitness
has become one of the prime concerns of the day-to-day life affairs.
1. Start your day with a healthy breakfast- People who eat breakfast are less likely to
overeat later in the day and are less inclined to pack on the pounds. Children who eat
breakfast have the tendency to perform better in school, and adults, better at work.
2. Drink lots of water throughout the day, the more the better. A good amount to aim
for is at least four to six 8-ounce glasses per day. In fact drinking a glass of water
when you first get out of bed in the morning is an excellent way to get a jumpstart on
your day.
3. Variety is the spice of life- Get into a habit of eating a variety of different foods
with your meals, just make sure that at least five servings are fruits and vegetables.

4. Eat plenty of lean, high protein foods in your daily diet such as lean meat, fish,
chicken and beans. Stay away from salted and processed meats. Also eat grains,
whether they be in the form of wholegrain cereal, breads etc. Grains provide the body
with fiber, iron and B vitamins and are therefore a necessity.
6. Some foods, such as potatoes and cheese often get a bad rap as being extremely
fattening. Perhaps it is a reputation they do not deserve because “everything in
moderation" is a good rule of thumb to live by.
7. Beware of excessive intakes of caffeine. Avoid coffee, soft drinks and chocolate. It
can cause dehydration.
9. Adopting the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle-Vegetarians, and vegans even more so,
need to supplement their diets with vitamins to replace what they no longer receive
from specific kinds of foods.

“It’s a established fact that education and awareness can promote healthier lifestyle.
Upper middle class or the urban elite have healthier eating habits. In rural India, it’s
